wow, no kidding there are more 4yr students than I thought, I'm one too.

good morning ya'll.

Hey, have any of you recieved recent updates?

It seems like a 3/19 update was for most SCA applicants (freshmen at least).

Also, the biggest determining factor for me transferring is the FA package. I go Tulane almost for free (by merit/outside scholarships), and they cost about the same without any kind of aid, but my guess is that USC will have to be an investment.

hey i just called the office of admissions and a guy told me there was no way that a transfer applicant will hear by April 1st and it was most likely a mistake..=/

and i haven't received an update since i turned in my application on January 6th!

Don't worry aaam90. It will all sort itself out.

Yeah, I think the only "early transfer decisions" would be 4.0 rising juniors, and even then, I'd expect that they would hear from USC in May/June.

I get my grades the second week of May, and I plan to just send the transcript immediately afterwards.

so i am finishing my second year right now and i didn't apply to usc this year. is it possible for me to apply in november for fall 2010? is there a maximum number of units you can have before you transfer?

Thanks, moss.

and h2soccergod, from the transfer brochure:

"Transfer unit limits
• maximum of 64 units of credit toward the bachelor’s degree from
other accredited institutions (80 units for the B. Arch. degree
and the Engineering “3–2” program, with no more than 70 of those
units earned at a two-year college)"

but some people had more than 64 units from last year's thread i remember.

Units That Must Be Earned at USC
Transfer students must complete a minimum
of 64 units in residence at USC (half the units
usually required for graduation).* While
in residence at USC, you are also expected to:
• complete all upper-division units in your major
and minor;
• complete WRIT 340, General Education
categories IV and VI, and any General
Education courses not taken before entering
USC; and
• take all your fall- and spring-semester courses
for subject or unit credit at USC. (Courses
for subject or unit credit may be taken at other
institutions only during summer sessions.
Also, after you complete 64 college-level units
applicable to the undergraduate degree, you
may use no more than 8 additional summer
session units for transfer credit.)

h2soccergod - it doesn't really matter if you didn't apply this year. But it is possible to be transferring as a junior for next year, yet your coursework that will be looked at will only be through your freshmen to sophomore level that have been comprised with the prereqs for USC you have taken. You'll be applying as junior standing for junior standing and most of your coursework taken through your junior year will not be transferrable. Rarely any junior standing applying transfers get in that I know of. It is worth a shot though.

64 semester max units for USC

so if i apply next year, then all the classes im taking that year wont count? if so then it is not worth transferring because i would fall back a year and that's not really what i planned since i'm doing a master after bs and med school after masters. at uci we are on quarter system so i how many units would the max be? cuz 64 units that for semester system and i don't know how that works

h2soccergod - not necessarily. Your upper division courses for your major will not be transferrable. If you still had some GE's to complete then probably those could be transferrable depending if they fit with the transferrability for USC. But yes, it's kind of like falling back a year...

96 quarter units (64 x 1.5) is the maximum

I talked to one of the reps, they said you can have over 64 units, but only 64 will transfer. If u keep ur wrk and if u get in, u can appeal to get the transfer units

However, you might not get unit credit, but you can definitely get subject credit from courses at strong programs if you petition it.

Look up your school here to see what can transfer:

Lets just say I get into USC, marshall specifically without the two accounting courses and 64 units is it still possible to graduate in 2 years?

pootie562 - You can still possibly graduate in 2 years even when you haven't finished the 2 recommended accounting courses. Yet your schedule will be a lot tougher to manage since most USC students have finished the accounting courses their sophomore year.

64 is the maximum amount of semester units for transferring to USC. Anything above that number can be transferred for subject credit. I myself am a current freshmen from a California Community College and I approximate that I will have at least 72-75 transferrable units to USC (set up by the articulation agreement) by the end of my spring semester sophomore year.

h2soccergod - your case is a bit different. Due to the fact that you are a junior and you most likely are taking your UCI core major classes. It is very unlikely your UCI core major classes that are upperdivision are not transferrable even if you petition when you are admitted.

ive made it my personal crusade to never make this thread hit 2nd page of the transfer discussion.

As the day(s) get closer it will consistently be at or near the top. Damn I wish it was June...

i know i wish it was june too..but on the bright side for some..i was looking through last year's thread and found that the first person to post they were accepted (from viterbi) did so on APRIL 10th! so good luck viterbi applicants.

i honestly havent seen one person apply to viterbi yet lol
but good luck anyway! :)
