USC App Status messages

We just checked my son's USC online application and the "My Admissions Checklist" link shows the following status, it seems to indicate all required documents were received.

"Required
Documents and information you need to submit

None

Received
- Description for [MARSUP] is blank
- Academic History
- Combined SAT Score or ACT Score
- High School Transcript
- Miscellaneous Documents
- Personal Statement Activity Sheet

- Undergraduate Application"

However, when checking the status on the Main Menu page, it shows a different message below:

"Undergraduate Application (Part II, Fall 2010)
We have received your application, and it appears we need more information. Please ensure you have submitted all required items. Due to the high volume of application documents we receive, allow sufficient processing time."

Does anyone have the same message on their apps?

midwestDad2,
When did your S submit his app?

Our S submitted on 11/15 and the last we checked on USConnect > Admission > Undergraduate Application, it says

Application Status:

The University of Southern California is pleased to offer the ability of students to receive online messages regarding the status of their application. However, all decision notifications are made via postal mail.

We don’t really know what all these mean. But it seems like your S has a more complete app.

BusyMei: My son submitted his app on Nov. 1st. We called USC and were told his official SAT/ACT scores and teacher’s recommendations were not yet received. Interesting enough as he submitted both his SAT and ACT scores online on Nov. 1st. I guess we just have to wait.

I was told that as long as the application is received by December 1st, we should be fine from the priority application standpoint, other documents can arrive later.

Is your son applying to Marshall School of Business? We also found out that Marshall School of Business does not require supplement document for incoming freshmen, but does for transfer students. Therefore you have a message like “Description for [MARSUP] is blank” which is ok if he is applying as freshman. .

Good luck to all!

Thanks for the info, midwestDad2. I guess we should just wait.

Undergraduate Application (Part II, Fall 2010)
Thank you for submitting your online application. We recommend you check here occasionally for an update on the status of your application.

Yet I don’t have my SAT score listed as something I turned in…

What is “Description for [MARSUP] is blank”? S’s says that, too.

Also:
Undergraduate Application (Part II, Fall 2010)
says something like “status is not available at this time, please check back later”. It has said that for two days. Any concern?

Question: My S had to create a new username/password for the Admissions Checklist page on “Admission and Financial Aid Online Services” that was different from his application username/password. Did yours as well?

I’m wondering if it was a weird glitch related to the fact that S has an old USC summer school (from HS) email account inked to his USC ID, or if everyone else had the same situation.

There is no link to Admissions Checklist on his main application page (where it says “status unavailable/check back later”, etc).

Okay, ignore my previous post- question has been answered. But here’s a new one (too much free time!!!)

S’s application status page now has a link to submit mid-year grades online. Is that a default, or does that appear for everyone?

I think S’s status changes every couple days, started with

  1. Thank you for submitting your online application. We recommend you check here occasionally for an update on the status of your application.
  2. changed to something like “status is not available at this time, please check back later”
  3. We have received your application, and it appears we need more information …
First, the My Admissions Checklist page didn’t ask for anything. Now it asks for SAT scores which was sent a month ago.

shreddermom,
No mid year report, just SAT scores but maybe they haven’t gotten to that part yet.

I am confuse about your S having to create a separate account. the instruction says (see 1 above) just to check back where the app is submitted.

According to midwestDad2, [MARSUP] is for Marshall Supplement which freshmans don’t need to do.

BusyMei, the new account needed was for this link, which allows one to upload things (and is also the place to check for students who apply by mail, although my son applied online). But I was told by someone at USC that they may eventually consolidate this link with the USCconnect application status:

https://camel2.usc.edu/ESD/IOL/login.aspx

Do others have a document tab right on the USCconnect application page?

S’s app status now changed back to
We have received and are currently reviewing your application. We recommend you check here occasionally for an update on the status of your application.

And no more link to get to the My Admissions Checklist page.

It seems like it is worth checking every few days since the status keeps changing.

well, my S’s status never even had the link to My Admissions Checklist. Had to go to another page manually to find that. For a couple days it had a link for submitting mid-year grades, though, but now that’s gone. So who knows?

Time to just sit back and wait (for his audition, anyway).

I’m still wondering if your S or D had/have that “my admissions checklist” right on the application page? My S has to go to a different page to see that. And I’m wondering if it has something to do with the fact that he has an old, but still active, MyUSC/OASIS account from his summer school program.

I wonder if we should ask them to fix it or leave well enough alone?

I won’t bother with it. I am sure the USC people are very busy now going through all the apps and the links/status seem to change/come/go. As long as you know they have everything, just wait.

My son doesn’t have the “My Admissions Checklist” link any more. It used to be there at one point. His status now is:
Undergraduate Application (Part II, Fall 2010)

Your application is being reviewed by the admission committee. We will mail notification of their decision by April 1. If for some reason you don’t receive our written notice, we will be happy to provide the results over the phone beginning April 11th.

Click here to submit mid-year grades online.

BusyMei,

Same message for my son’s app too. I hope this is a good sign for us :-).

Yeah, I assume it is a good sign since the admission committee probably won’t review incomplete apps.

Good luck to your son :)

Hi, I was wondering if anyone understands this admissions checklist.

I sent the SAT scores a week ago. both the official collegeboard one and the unofficial paper one. I’m guessing they didn’t receive it yet. but what about the document library? What’s that? it seems like you’re supposed to submit all of those too, cause they can be selected “to submit”, and they’re pretty important, like the transcript. and the sat score is also in there? (which is also in the required section?)

Thanks

I also have the same information displayed on my application status, even though I had my school fax in my score reports a week ago and also chose to officially send both my SAT and ACT scores a week ago. I might talk to the college guidance office to see whats going on next week.

For me it says…

Required
None

Received
None

?? But I sent the SAT scores 3 weeks ago (they show up as sent and other schools got them), teacher/counselor sent the recs 2 weeks ago and SAT scores were faxed 2 weeks ago as well as transcripts…

I had this problem too. When I called USC, they said that it takes about 2 weeks to process and enter in all your information and received documents.
