*******USC Class of 2020 Results/Discussion Thread**********

@CollegeMom48 Oh wow. Then I guess the journey isn’t quite over for some who see the big envelope in their mailbox haha

Spring admission almost sounds like a pro to me. Having a semester off from school to relax before college really isn’t a bad thing.

What are the general requirements for the presidential scholarship or trustee’s scholarship? I really love USC but I don’t think my folks could cover 67k per year (even with student loans). My stats are 2330 SAT and strong GPA/class rank.

^^^ There has been a lot written about this, check out the threads pinned at the top of the USC forum. Check out the stats thread, but don’t take too much from it. There are some with 2330 that will get a scholarship offer and some with 2330 that won’t even get admitted. They are holistic, meaning they look at whole package and do what they want to shape a class the way they want it. URM, low income, and where you are from can play a big role in scholarships or being admitted and you have no control over that. Just put your best foot forward and have a plan B.

@catzxo After a 3 month long summer vacation, I would be the complete opposite haha! Can’t wait to start college.

By the way, when USC says their financial aid deadline is Feb 16, that means I have till February 16 11:59pm to submit it right? And that I don’t have to turn it in by tomorrow, the 15th?

USC emails and the website says FAFSA and CSS profile is due, but I just need to clarify, there is also an “additional information” section here http://www.usc.edu/admission/fa/undergraduates/prospective/applying.html#/1 and that’s ONLY if they REQUEST tax return forms through a separate email, right?

I may die of impatience. I can’t believe I started this crazy process in October. THEY HAVE TAKEN 5 MONTHS OF MY LIFE FROM ME.

USC is definitely my #1 school right now. I will be crushed if I don’t get in :frowning:

@ClassOf2020x exactly. I applied to a lot of schools, but honestly if I only get into USC, I will be happy with that.

I haven’t even gotten any promotional emails or anything since I’ve applied. I’m an international student trying to get into Bm engineering but I really don’t think I am on their radar

Has anyone gotten anything since applying besides info on logging on to your portals?

@mash97 The promotional emails that they send out mean nothing. Don’t worry if you don’t receive them. Some people will receive them because they opt into the mailing system and some don’t. It has nothing to do with your application so don’t worry

They have your application fee now, they don’t need to send any promotional emails. Not to be snarky, but it’s true. Once application period closes, the mailings dry up. Totally normal.

I applied before the December deadline but now I got some new awards from my school. Do you think at this time the admission committee will review my application again? It’s sad that my regional counselor never reply my e-mail.

@menloparkmom:
We submitted neither the FAFSA nor the CSS Profile for our daughter’s application.
According to mailers we received from USC, these filings are used only to determine financial aid and will not affect admissions.
After careful consideration, we chose not to file the FAFSA or CSS since we are not prepared to disclose the intimate details of our finances to ANY institution, and have already determined that our daughter will not qualify for financial assistance due to our income/assets.
So far, there are no additional messages on her portal, and no requests for additional documentation (even AFTER the February 16th deadline).

For those who do not know, USC uses both the FAFSA and the CSS Profile. The CSS Profile is a more comprehensive financial statement than the FAFSA, and counts additional assets against an applicant in determining the Expected Family Contribution (EFC).

For instance, most parents are probably unaware that the CSS counts Home Equity in determining need. This may come as a surprise to many parents who only consider their level of income as determining eligibility.

Here is a more comprehensive explanation of the FAFSA and CSS:

Here is an in-depth explanation of the differences between the FAFSA and CSS Profile and the additional assets counted by the CSS Profile:

poolshark223,
I’m not sure why you are addressing me?

@menloparkmom:
See your post #864.
You were telling @renegade23 to get his tax information submitted before ANYONE could continue processing his application for admission.

Poolshark223,
I was specifically talking to the poster in #863 who DID apply for FA.
he said-
" I’ve submitted all my FA stuff back in the beginning of Jan " and then said
“Additionally, it was just updated and it asked for my parent’s tax information”
Since he DID apply for FA he DOES need to submit the requested tax info asap in order for admissions to be able to continue processing his application. Admissions will hold up his file until it is complete ,and that means it contains all financial information that the FA dept needs to calculate his FA package, IF he is admitted.
Those who do NOT apply for FA, like your family, will not be required to submit any additional material.
Clear?

I want to get into USC so bad. unfortunately I feel that even if I do get in I won’t be able to afford it.

I WANT MY YELLOW PACKAGE.

question is UCLA better than USC academically ?

I am expecting rejections from so many schools. But I will admit that my heart is set on USC.
