As mentioned back in January, sometimes an applicant who applied before 12/1 and got a notification against scholarship consideration can be bumped up to Dean’s scholarship. Merit scholarships are not the only scholarships available- therefore you can receive others, which can be viewed on the college’s site. I think someone posted a link earlier. There is no way to be considered for merit scholarships if you applied after 12/1.
@mash97 @jtl629 Just visited today. Prior to out your there was a presentation informing us that if you are rejected from your first choice, the evaluation process begins all over again for your second choice (so the school is unaware of your initial rejection). Fight on, you guys. I’m excited to hear back next week, but I’m not expecting an acceptance.
They do give out some smaller scholarship with regular decision, the most would be a Dean’s 1/4 of tuition (not COA) but they don’t give many of those at RD, but there are some. Just don’t want anyone counting on it, but seeing it as a nice surprise. Other small ones as mentioned, a couple grand here or there.
Hypothetical for those familiar with scholarships: I was nominated for the Presidential, but am looking for it to be bumped to a Trustee. If I emailed/called USC and expressed interest, financial need, and mentioned getting into a different top-tier STEM school, would they take that into consideration?
no.
the only way to bumped up is for you to have been invited to interview at USC in Feb, which you then did, AND the 3 people who interviewed you recommended to the head of admissions/ FA that you be bumped up because they REALLY want you.
Mentioning an admission to another college these days accomplishes nothing.
@menloparkmom - Thanks! Hopefully my interviewers liked me enough for that to happen; part of me is still attached to Viterbi, even though it’d cost more for me to attend

Yes, just posted a page back that 6:30-6:45am is when they posted last year, so that is best guess.
Will it be under FA tomorrow morning or they will send email?
you.usc. there will be new message there above your acceptance message. This is of course, if they do it the same way as they have in the past, those of us that boldly make these predictions rely on having been through it and/or watching it over the years. They could change it up and make us look bad. :-S They could need more time and wait till Monday or whenever, ya never know, but I hope not! Good luck all waiting on scholarship news!
Hi everyone. I’m a double legacy student with a 3.61 gpa (upward trend, 4.0 since sophomore year) and a 31 ACT. Is there any possibility of getting in?
@caliapplicant of course there is. Those are good scores, right about average for USC. As long as you were involved outside of school I would expect you to fair well.
Hey! Anyone else waiting on a decision for the music industry major? Heard that the pop music program wasn’t going to hear until late, around the 28th. Is music industry the same or should we hear sometime next week with everyone else?

Presidential Scholar! @ruetherford no USC doesn’t have ED/EA. These scholarhsips are for the people they invited to interview in January who applied before the 12/1 deadline.
