*******USC Class of 2020 Results/Discussion Thread**********

TRUSTEE. Very proud and happy, but certainly not sure what differentiated my child Tough decisions to follow,…

Congratulations to other recipients. For those that did not receive their nominated Trustee or President Szcholarship, don’t let it define you, everyone should be proud of their accomplishments that will most certainly carry you far.

To make it easier for googling info next year.
When will USCTrustee and Presidents Scholarship be announced?
Answer: The Friday morning prior to Regular Decision (RD) acceptance results announcements, typically falling around March 18-21. In 2016, they were posted by 4:30am Pacific time, and 6:30am Pacific in 2015. These times are based off of first postings on cc or my child’s as seen in the USC portal.

Just got Trustees’!!!

Hello new to this group and you all may have posted this already.
Congratulations to all who received Scholarships. U made it USC with a scholarship. Good Luck making final decisions.

Questions : When are USC RD decisions expected to be posted? Monday or Friday next week?

Well, they held course again this year and posted as predicted and planned. Congrats to having the news and not waiting any longer!

They’re posted online Saturday, mailed Wednesday @WaitingtoKnow

All USC decisions will be available on the portal on the 26th, according to the admissions twitter. However, packages will be mailed March 23rd so it is possible you will get your decision in the mail before it is available on the portal.

According to the USC admissions twitter it’s because “you can’t beat the excitement of opening a package first!”
Very true if that package contains good news!

Congrats scholarship people and good luck to everyone else  I know I won’t be able to get any sleep the night before.

Also, someone asked “Is acceptance package priority shipping?” and they replied with “decisions will be sent by priority mail” so I guess both acceptances and rejections will be received around the same time and the only hint will be the size of the envelope.

@mash97 and @Abwee67 Thanks. Next week, one more week of confusion…

For those that have seen this already 4 times, sorry, but here is this information again since questions of timing have come up and people tend not to go back too far on threads…

For 2016 they are saying mailing on Wed the 23rd with portal updated 26th which is Saturday. This is a day later in the same week last year. They may back that up a day as they have in the past, but just a guess. I think they pad the announcement with a day of cushion and will mail Tues the 22nd with portal update on Friday morning the 25th just after midnight. But plan on 23rd, like they posted on their admissions page and you won’t be going crazier than necessary.

Here’s the summary of what to look for and when:

ACCEPTANCE PACKAGES:
For 2015 March results, packages were mailed on Tuesday, March 24, and started arriving in some locations on Wednesday March 25th. Most received them Thursday, the 26th. In 2015, USC did announce they were mailing both rejections and acceptances at the same time. However, large colorful acceptance envelopes are sent priority, while rejections are thin typical white letter envelopes sent regular first class mail, they start arriving a day after acceptances. (For 2016, I think they will arrive on March 23, 24, 25th and portal updated on 12:10 am on the 25th.)

PER THE POST OFFICE, THEY ARE REALLY ACCEPTANCES sent in BIG ENVELOPES, NOT A PACKAGE:
Acceptances are sent in a large colorful envelope that is NOT trackable, via USPS. It is NOT considered a package. It is just a large envelope for mailing purposes. btw, USC posts a picture of envelopes leaving the office to their admissions Facebook page. It has been bright yellow or red over last few years.

REJECTION LETTERS: Mailed at same time, but a lower mailing priority. Rejection letters (mailed regular first class mail) started arriving on Thursday, the 26th in Socal, one day after acceptance packages began arriving that were mailed Priority. (For 2016, rejections would arrive Thursday March 24th, if they follow same pattern, the 25th if they go a day later like they state.)

PORTAL UPDATE:Status was updated on portal just after midnight at 12:10 am on Friday morning March 27th. (For 2016, this would mean portal updated Friday March 25, but they are saying Saturday, the 26th.)

The portal changed and was updated to look like this:

Enrollment Commitment Deposit
Withdraw Your Application
Submit Documents

Financial Aid
Apply for Financial Aid
Financial Aid Summary & Tasks (FAST) page

On-Campus Admitted Student Programs

INTERNATIONAL:
Packets go DHL and typically take 3-4 days to central Europe as a frame of reference, rejections letters can take up to two weeks (International only) cause they are sent regular mail. Portal updates long before the rejection letters arrive internationally. Sometimes it seems they get international envelopes out to DHL a day early because I see some internationals posting they get a package in those first couple days as well, but can’t confirm that, just a guess. Do not know about ability to track DHL - not sure if that is option they offer.

Disclaimer - they could change things up, but they usually do it the same year after year, this is just what I know having been through it several times in recent years.

USC has been hands-down the most rigorous financial aid ordeal! If feel like there’s a new form required on son’s account each day, despite being very proactive from the start. Is that just because they’re not on IDOC? They’ve asked for things I’d never heard of!

@Alamom What kind of documents (besides the usual tax returns and W2) are they requesting? My S was accepted in Feb, and we have filed both FAFSA and CSS, but I have not sent in any other documents yet. Will try to file our tax returns soon and send those in. Thanks in advance.

@Anamgol Check your sons financial aid tab and see if there are any requests for more documents. My son is a Sophomore and we were asked to send in 8 different documents: FAFSA, CSS, personal tax return, business tax return, K-1, students non-filer, parents financial statement and one more that I can’t remember.

Just found out I recieved the presidential scholarship! I’m so excited

I just got into UCLA :o
Maybe there is hope for USC!!

Is there a Class of 2019 discussion thread? I can’t seem to find it.

FOUND IT!

Is USC having technical difficulties with the website?

@colmom2b The website is fine for me!

Congrats @pterosprite! That is fantasitc news regardless of how the upcoming USC results turn out. But yes, getting into UCLA is a good sign indeed, and a heck of a back up plan. UCLA is awesome too. Woooohooo!

@CADREAMIN thank you so much!! I’m out of state (although I did receieve grant aid which was a pleasant surprise!), so it’s probably unlikely unless I win a bunch of the scholarships I applied for. The acceptance feels good though!!!
