USC Fall 08 transfers

I think USC has a postmark deadline so it wouldn't be necessary to do that. But make sure its a postmark deadline, but if it's not then you better hand it in personally.

Thanks. Yeah, it has to be there tomorrow, instead of postmarked, so I'll have to take a trip over there. I just hope that they are open on Saturday's... then again, it wouldn't make sense to have the deadline on that date, if they weren't.

So I'll make the trip... no better day to avoid traffic there than going on the day they play UCLA!

Hey all, since the transfer deadline is not until February, does it matter if the application is submitted now, or is it better to wait until after grades for fall quarter is out?
I currently have enough units for the admissions officers to reveal soley my college transcripts. Submit it now and send an updated transcript, or submit it in January when I have the grades out? I'm worry about the logistics
Thanks!

transferring from UCLA in 2 years

really? Because that's where I am right now (sophomore Bruin). Both are great schools... but they're... different. Can't go wrong with either one tho.
Wait, are you a first year at UCLA?
Junior transfer here.
What does "including third semester equivalency in a foreign language" mean? Does that mean the completion of the third semester of a foreign language or the ability to be placed into a third semester level language course? (2 semesters or 4 semesters would make the most sense as requirements) I took a year/ 3 quarters of a foreign language last year.

Hey guys, just wondering what kind of chances I would have at getting into such an awesome school!

So, I'm a freshman at my CC right now and I want to transfer as a sophomore into the College of Letters, Arts, and Sciences, so here are my stats

GPA: 4.0
Units: 14 completed, will have completed 33 units at the end of Spring, hopefully, that will also fulfill all the GE and Major requirements
EC: Political Science Club, Piano, Guitar, High School Varsity Golf/Wrestling, as well as an avid surfer
Legacy: None
Work Experience: Worked at a local restaurant for about a year.
1st choice Major: Political Science
2nd choice Major: History
Current School: El Camino College

High School Stats
SAT: 1850
SAT II: U.S. History: 700
GPA: ~3.0
APs: 5 on US History and 2 on Spanish 4
was also in a variety of clubs

So, I feel that my weakness is that when I turn in my application, I would only have 14 units completed, although I have heard they will ask for my Spring/Winter grades if they are interested

Also, I'm planning to join Alpha Gamma Sigma as well as an Honors Transfer program at my CC, would that assist me at all? If so, how could that be done?

How much will this affect me? and in general what do you guys think my chances are?

Thanks a lot, and the best of luck to all of you in your applications!

(Go ECC!)
Btw Torrancecali if you're still posting here, what high school did you attend? I've been living in Torrance practically all my life!

nvm, I figured it out. So the 3rd semester of a foreign language has to be completed in order to satisfy the foreign language requirement. 3 semesters = 5 quarters :(

Does anyone know where to find more specific admit rates for USC? As in how many people are admitted to each school or major? Because I only find a general number for transfers students like 8k applied and 1300 enrolled. :P

25% of the applied is accepted.

Thanks Doryx, I saw that stat on another board. Just wondering if I could find how many people got into Annenberg under my major. :/ But I guess no one has those stats.

You could contact the annenberg department and ask them. You can also try to apply as an English major and transfer to Annenberg, which would be easier.

Really? Yeah, I'm having a tough time picking the alternate major. I had actually thought about either English or P.R., tho now that you say so, English makes sense. Thanks Doryx. :)

p.s. How much are my SAT scores going to affect my admission? They aren't required for applicants with over 30 units, right? Mine are okay, I guess. And also, how much does school reputation count into admissions? I was convinced that it didn't matter considering community college is community college, no matter how fancy the facilities are at schools like SMC or PCC. Any thoughts?

As long as you have 30 units completed SAT scores or your high school records wont be looked at, pretty much, from what I understand.

As for school reputation, I don't think that plays a key factor at all. Despite the top transfer schools that are listed on the brochure, I think if anything, the one thing that could be disadvantageous to someone not attending one of those CCs is that they could potentially miss out on some activities or organizations that are offered that may not be in others

If it came down to two applications, and they were pretty similar, I don't really think that what CC you came from would really matter, especially between two CCC.

I could be wrong of course, I'm not exactly sure, so If I'm mistaken, please let me know!

if i just want to get into the college of letters and arts should i just apply with undecided as my major? im a freshman applying for a spot in class of 2011...

thanks kevl. I figured the same thing. I think it only matters in comparing rigorous courses when a student is trying to transfer from another 4 year. right? which i'm not, so i hadn't thought much about it.

Dont sweat your SAT or HS. I got a 1870 on my SAT and had a 2.76 GPA in HS. If you have 30+ units, they'll only look @ that.

Yeah, I started off hs ok, and then got discouraged. So same story. :P

thanks, bumbumbum. (from the first page)
sorry for the really late response.
haven't been here for a while.
