USC Fall 08 transfers

hey thanks woman of troy, i got all that info but i was wondering if i need tohave CERTAIN classes down before i apply to usc..can anyone help?

I believe you should have all your Gen Eds done.

Finishing up my transfer stuff here and looks like I'm not alone. I need a second pair of eyes for this essay here....anybody up for it???

Ok. My rep for USC said that people who want to transfer AS a sophomore need to have 30 units by the END of spring, not by when you apply. That's why they request spring grades. I'm getting really confused because everyone is like saying their hs gpa and SAT scores when you don't even need it. Anyone want to clarify?

I'm spending my entire weekend finishing my essays and getting ready for next week. I have two significant deadlines in Michigan and USC. It's going to be tough. I'm pretty much done with USC, I just have to fine tune it. It's going to take a lot of effort and focus.

@Hkim810: I'll have 30+ units by Spring. I'm applying as a sophomore. I'm still confused as to whether or not that means I have to send them SAT scores.

if you're applying as a sophomore you'll need to send high school stats. Meaning: yes, you have to send them SAT scores.

I had my school send the transcript so I didn't have the transcript cover sheet, I'm going to send admissions an email, but is this going to be a problem?

How about if I'm applying as a junior? Do I still need to send them high school info?

You guys can find ways to avoid it all you want. No matter what, you MUST send in your HS transcript. There is really no argument for that.

Now SAT/ACT, I do not know. The USC and CCC counselors have told me, you must send in your SAT/ACT no matter how many units you have.

Unless rules have changed since last year when I applied, I don't know. If you want to be 100% sure, just contact the USC counselors.

During your application waiting period, OASIS will show a list of documents they need in order to consider the application complete. The list includes HS transcripts, college transcripts, SAT scores, and financial aid. Once they receive each document, they will make a note next to item on the list "documents received."

I constantly check that site, just to make sure my documents have been received. My college transcripts took a while to update, so I sent them in again. My list was updated within 3 days. My rule of thumb is, if the site doesn't update within a 2 weeks during busy season, send them in again. If the site doesn't update within a week during regular season, send the documents again.

i have no idea about other majors but for marshall GEs are OPTIONAL

The following optional transferable courses assist students with meeting both USC and Marshall graduation requirements:

* Accounting 1 and Accounting 2 (will remove one required BUAD course. BUAD 250A and 250B are replaced by BUAD 305x)
* General Education Categories 1, 2, 3 & 5

so when is the last day that the hs transcripts and reps should be sent out? i called today and NOTHING has gotten there yet, so i'm extra freaking out. and i was told by both my rec person that he mailed it out 2 weeks ago and my hs 1 week ago. maaaan. this is intense. >_<

Alright, I'm wondering if you people think I have a shot at getting into USC. During high school, I had been going through a lot of family difficulties and as a child, it severely affected me. Up until 9th grade, I had won President's awards (given to one person in the entire school) and countless other achievements. However, my high school GPA was about 2.9 on a scale of A=4 B=3 C=2 D=1 F=0. However, the admissions officer told me that since I had taken so many credits in college, that my high school transcript really wouldn't be looked at except for graduation. Now, I have entered college and turned everything around. My stats are as follows...

Units: 65.5
Transferable: 56
GPA: 3.83
Major: Business Administration
Marshall School of Business Prereqs: Calc - A, English - A, Micro - A, Macro - B, Accounting 1 - A, Accounting 2 - A
Major related classes: 7 A's, 1 B
Extracurriculars: Student Congress (currently in running for VP position), Program Board, Coach of a boys basketball team, 35 hours of community service as well as high school football and basketball
Work Experience: 20-30 hours per week
Awards: Phi Theta Kappa, 3 Consecutive President's List's (3 straight 4.0 semesters), 2005 Church League Sportsmanship Award
Letters of Recommendation: I also received two letters of recommendations from my calculus teacher and the business department head that sounded extremely good.

So please tell me, what do you think?

woman of troy-I'm freaking out too because I just checked my application status and they still haven't received my college & high school official transcripts. My college transcripts we're sent out on Jan. 16th and my high school transcripts we're sent out two weeks ago. But I received an email from one of the USC admissions counselors and he said this:
"We currently do not have record of your transcripts but documents do take a bit of time to upload into our system."

If worse comes to worse, I'm going to request emergency processing again but this time I'm going to deliver them to USC myself on Feb. 1st.

if you're applying as a sophomore you'll need to send high school stats. Meaning: yes, you have to send them SAT scores.

I'm sorry Krnpsychopath but that's incorrect. Please make sure that you have the right information before you post it on this thread because people like myself get really frustrated and nervous.

I e-mailed my USC counselor and this is what he wrote:
anah,

If you will have 30 units completed, then you will not need to send in
your scores. It may help to include them just in case you are forced to
withdraw from one of those courses, but if you will reach 30 by the
end of the spring, then your scores will not be needed.

Yes you have to send in your hs transcript but they will NOT use it for admissions. THey use it to see if you have fulfilled your math requirements and proof of graduation. They do NOT look at your SATs if you will have 30 units by the END of Spring Semester, NOT by the time you apply.

@Hkim810: Hey sweet man thanks for checking on that. Looks like I don't need to send SAT scores, and that's a good thing because they weren't that good. I'll have 34 units by Spring!

Good luck to everyone by the way.

To which address do I send my official transcripts? I see two different addresses and I just want to be 100% positive. Thanks!

The first one I believe Drewkins

Drekwins* My apologies.

If we've taken AP's, do we need to send AP scores by Feb. 1?
