USC Fall 08 transfers

for business majors do you need three years of foriegn language like spanish or french for example

Foreign language isn't an admission requirement. It's a graduation requirement. Once you are at USC, you take a placement test.

Does anyone know the timetable for when they give out admissions decision for transfers? I got a letter saying that they will notify us by June 1, but I also submitted my Supplemental Viterbi application, which says that the will notify by April 1. So I am just wondering if anyone knows when they will begin to notify.

Doryx.... knowning a foreign language will help ur admission decision.

einna, I'm sure that your job will help your application greatly. I read somewhere that someone got accepted with a GPA similar to yours, and had tons of experience in the field with internships, writing for the school paper etc.

The foreign language requirement differs depending on your major. I know for Annenberg, you must complete 3 semesters before you graduate from USC, but before transferring, you must have at least one semester done. (Not sure how SAT II's and APs affect this, though)

Speaking of Kinkos, I went there with the intention of faxing something to USC. It was such a rip-off I decided to mail the forms instead. I think for long distance, it was over $2 a page, and with all the cover and end sheets, I would have ended up paying like $16!

i graduate high school with a 2.0 but have a 3.7 in CC now will my high school gpa affect my chances?

not if you have 30+ units.

ok thanks i will have 61 units

I never said anything about completing foreign language could improve or not improve people's chances. I just stated that it isn't a REQUIREMENT.

When I applied last year, I was frustrated with why no past USC admits (who used this forum) would post some tips for future USC applicants for the next year. I hoped to change that this year, but now I realize why past USC admits desert this forum.

lol...sorry but I have to laugh

"Knowning"

Doryx, I'm glad you're here and helping us out with advice and tips. I, for one, have started to largely ignore the poster you are referring to, because I find his "advice" unsubstantiated and irrelevant much of the time.

Doryx- Why is that? [USC admits deserting the forum]

I've noticed that once someone is rejected, they disappear from the forums. They don't even post about being rejected. Too ashamed I guess? Others who are accepted, post their cheers of getting their acceptance letter and never return. They have no more use for the forums and move on. They are basically leeches. Check out the other huge thread USC 2007 or something. Most of the members who posted in that thread aren't active right now.

I hope everyone who gets in or even don't get in stick around next year to help out the new admits. It's just courtesy.

I'm still around lol

damn.. i gotta hurry up now... FAFSA and CSS profile deadline is comin up... and my TAP application... too busy with school.. my life is hell!!

I am still around.
I appreciate your input, Doryx (the punches of humor especially).

True. I suposse after baing actively involved in the group and maybe even boasting about stats, it'd be embarassing to get rejected! -_- lol, but if I'm admitted I'd like to help. It HAS been helpful to get tips, Doryx. Thanks.
:)

*being.... sorry i think CC was overcrowded or something, couldn't fix it earlier

I posted in USC forums last year. I obviously was rejected. Sad times...hopefully it won't happen again, but I'm prepared for the worst.

Anyway, I thought there were no financial aid deadlines. I havent done anything for financial aid yet, but I'm going to submit the CSS Profile and FAFSA pretty soon.

Question: after filling out CSS profile and FAFSA is there other stuff you have to do?
