I’m very confused with the USC interview process. Do all students applying need to be interviewed? Do the people interviewing you see your grades and automatically know that you won’t be admitted? Explain pls! How do they interview so many applicants anyways???
Relatively small amount of interviews (compared to applicants for sure) available in the fall with sign ups beginning in August. They do not interview everybody, the applicant has to be proactive to get an interview spot. They fill up quickly. Generally they have your info if you have already sent stuff in, but you should bring a resume regardless.
They also do interview for some scholarship recipients in Feb.
I had an interview in late October (the same day as the ACT) and it honestly took some work.
First off, I’m in Georgia, and they don’t have off campus interview locations in the south so I was out of luck. I had to call the admissions office multiple times, because if you didn’t know the average wait on hold is 10 minutes. After calling, I asked if they conducted interviews through skype, they set me up with my local admissions counselor and in the end they did not have interviews through skype. I was bummed out, BUT LUCKILY my admissions counselor was very nice because she came all the way from USC to interview a couple of students interested in USC and told me that if I was interested, I could sign up for one, and stressed that the interview wasn’t mandatory. Of course I signed up.
(I’s saying sorry now if this seems a little jumbled up)
I told my college counselor at my school and he helped me with telling me what I needed to bring. He was also very surprised that they interviewed me when I hadn’t submitted my application. I submitted it during thanksgiving break. I brought with me my resume, my school’s profile/report, a list of questions, and my transcript. She took all with her, except my questions (which she answered happily). After the interview I stayed in touch by constantly asking questions and when I submitted my application, I gave her my ID number (she had been asking for it during the interview). When I checked my youSC account, all of files I gave her were in my ‘Received Documents’ tab.
Hmmm for the “youSC account” was that existing/available prior to submitting your application through Common App or only after? @PolarKode
