Next year, if I enroll, I plan to enter as a science major with a pre-med emphasis. Yet, I don't know much about USC's pre-med track, let alone there science program. I understand USC is top-notch in the respective fields of business and engineering, but how are the sciences?
How is the pre-med advising?
Are there a lot of research/ lab opportunities?
How competitive are the classes? the curve?
Are a lot of students weeded out of the pre-med track?

As of now I am deciding between Miami (20k annual scholarship), UofA Honors (14k annual scholarship), and USC (spring, no scholarship money). Is it worth the money to earn a degree from USC despite the cheaper options available?

There is definitely pre-med and pre-health advising (not sure about the effectiveness, but considering USC has a graduate Pharmacy School, I don’t see why it wouldn’t be)
There are MANY research and lab opportunities, but you must step up to take advantage of them. (they say USC students typically graduate with 3 interns, and there is a professor whose policy is to never turn away an interested student?)
The science classes are very competitive, and the curve is quite harsh, especially for upper division classes. (a professor mentioned to me while I was on campus today that his Organic Chemistry class was filled with former high school valedictorians)
I think the last question depends on you and your ability to handle the material, but I assume the curve does contribute to some “weeding”.

For spring and no scholarship, I personally would go with a cheaper option. Undergraduate school is not necessarily as important as graduate school for medical. You want to save as much as possible for the debt you will accrue in medical school!

Good luck with your decisions…I am making my own :)
