minniemouse, what is the “trick”?

it was a way into the RSVP system that worked two days ago. It’s long extinct…USC killed the link on Monday. Now you can see through USConnect.

Congratz to all who got in! If anyone is calm enough to answer my question though, does it spell doom if one person at our school applied, got in, but we have not gotten anything yet? Thanks for answering SimpleLife, but do the waves depend on geographical location?

can you explain how to do it through USConnect? sorry for all the questions, i am just so eager to find out their decision :)

If your USConnect homepage has not changed does that mean there’s no hope that a package might arrive during these next couple of weeks? I’ve had a super awful last month and was hoping for some good news…

If you want a screenshot of my USConnect to see what it looks like, PM me.

I know what it’s supposed to look like and mine definitely doesn’t look like that as of now. Does that mean all hope of a scholarship offer is lost?

None of us knows!!! The best you can do is email your admissions counselor…honestly, I doubt anyone knows the true answer

So basically, if I haven’t received any notifications in the mail by now, have I not received a scholarship? Sadness…

not trying to be cocky or anything, but i dont feel as happy as i should be i think i took some people’s spot who would like the school more.

^ azndarkvader, college applicants these days by neccessity find they have to apply to several schools to be sure they have good options in April. USC spends a great deal of time (as all colleges do) calculating their “yield,” that is, the number of admitted students who will choose to attend, and they account for that when they admit. For their target entering class of 2,600, they will admit more than 8,500 applicants.

So don’t feel you have taken someone’s spot - just enjoy the acceptance - CONGRATS.

And… to be honest, when lamedaughter was applying to college, USC was barely on her radar. We were on a southern California college tour and only stopped by USC for a tour because it we could squeeze it in the same day we toured UCLA. The tour impressed her and she added USC to her list, but it wasn’t at the top.

When her package arrived in January it was a surprise, and she wasn’t sure she would even attend the interview - she had already been admitted EA to a school she loved and was waiting for word in March from her top choice. I convinced her to go mainly because I heard here on the forum there would be fun stuff for parents (they literally wine and dine the parents while the applicants sleep on the floor of dorm rooms and eat in the cafeteria ).

After Explore and finding out more about the unique programs (especially Thematic Option - there will be more about that on the forum as the Explore sessions start), she was seriously considering USC. She was admitted to all her schools - including her top choice - and spent a week telling her friends she would attend that other school. But then, April 30th, she went to submit her deposit online to that school and suddenly switched to the USC site and clicked “confirm!” It was a big surprise! (Well, I had purchased enough USC hats for the family and hidden them away when I saw she was seriously considering USC - SHE was the surprised one when she walked in the room and we were all in our USC gear jumping and cheering!).

Soooo… Enjoy the acceptance, and maybe attend the interview - just for fun… :)

CONGRATULATIONS!

I live in Tampa, FL and three students from my school (myself included) applied by Dec. 1st to USC. We each have very high grades and scores but none of us have heard anything from USC regarding scholarships or acceptance packages. I realize that maybe none of us got it, but I just figured at least one of us would hear so I am wondering-- is there still hope? Could a package still be on the way or its unlikely at this point? I have heard of a few people in South Florida (miami/ft. lauderdale area) who received packages but no one in Tampa. Any other florida people on here? Two of us applied for SCA and the other Annenberg if that makes a difference.

Just wondering if there’s still hope for me or my friends :/

um, i just have a question. I applied to USC before the dec 1 deadline and i live in the norcal area. I still haven’t received any scholarship/acceptancel letters but I did get a letter saying “please feel free to send in your mid-year report if you haven’t already done so.” does this mean I’m not getting a scholarship?

Hey guys, I am a bit new to the community. So great to meet you all!

I got the USC acceptance a couple days ago. What date are we supposed to get the scholarship letter? I am in LA.

Congrats to everyone who got in!

@athene
i am also new to the USC forum (and really, to CC in general) but welcome.

my D was also accepted to USC last week, but there was no mention of the Trustee/Presidential interviews in the package. the consensus seems to be that she will not be considered for those scholarships. from what i gather, she is still in the running for the Dean’s and possibly other merit-based awards. i think you are in a similar situation.

congrats on your acceptance!

I posted this in another thread, but this one seems to be more appropriate, so I guess I’ll just reiterate (as I’m excited to share anyways) that although I got my acceptance two days ago (postmarked 1/27), and it unfortunately did not include anything about the P/T scholarships, this afternoon, I received a separate letter informing me that I had received the Dean’s scholarship! So be on the lookout for a rather nondescript letter from USC if you received an acceptance packet, I supposed (although I have no idea if they send them all out at this time or anything). Good luck everyone!

is everyone who applied by December 1 but is NOT receiving a scholarship getting a letter that tells them so?

My friend and I both applied by Dec. 1. He got a letter saying he was not receiving either the Presidential or Trustee scholarship but to keep a look out for his decision around march/april.
I have received nothing yet. If I didn’t get a scholarship either should I expect that letter too?? I feel like I’ve been left hanging!!

I also received a letter today informing me that I am a Deans Scholar! I think they sent these out a day after they sent out the 2nd wave of admission packages (around 1/28 or 1/29).

also received the deans scholarship award letter today… super happy!!

Congrats everyone!!!
