Thank you madbean. I know we have chatted before about USC. I had looked at the BA and was unclear how the picking of the other classes worked. I thought it was a sort of the school will work with you to design classes that meet your needs sort of thing. I just wanted to make sure that some classes could be really acting. Your plan of action sounds perfect and will be the approach he takes. Thanks again!

My D also got the mysterious invitation yesterday. I actually haven’t given it to her yet because I didn’t want to get her hopes up. I am glad to hear it may be a good sign. Does anyone know how and when USC notifies applicants of their acceptance?

I agree it’s a good idea to keep hopes neutral until official word. I would hate to get anyone too jazzed, so only posted it’s a good hint. And it is.

USC Admissions has posted they will mail acceptance packets on March 26 and will put all results up on March 29. This is the first year they are doing this, so it may or may not go as announced.

Last year my D got the invitation and we attended. She was admitted to BFA Acting after audition and interview, and yes, last year the interview for BA theatre was optional. I’m surprised to hear that the BA students would have a better academic record on the whole. That was not the case for students from D’s school accepted to the BA Theatre track. D was a Valedictorian with high SATs and the only one from her senior class admitted for BFA. The other 5-6 kids had variable rankings and all chose BA Theatre so they could minor in something else for which the BFA doesn’t allow.

Every kid we know who got that invitation last year made it into either the BA or BFA. Sorry to say in D’s case, unfortunately USC’s merit monies were non-existent; the only school out of 14 and talent offers didn’t exist. The financial package was basically a unsubsized student loan or D and the remaining amount listed as parent loan.

Hi everyone! Since most of you live in the states and got their invitation by mail, I was wondering if I also got the invitation but didn’t receive it yet cz I’m international. So just to check, can some of those who received the invitation login to usconnect and check if the invitation appears under the message history (application status check)?
If it doesn’t, then I can keep my hopes up; but if it does, then I’ll have to forget about it :P

FutureActor, I logged in and there is no change nor mention of the event.

Thank you acting17! Maybe there’s still hope. I may be invited but didn’t receive the letter yet cz I’m not from the states and it takes time for the mail to be delivered. Only time will tell.

If you are not I the states then it will take longer. The event isn’t until April. I’m not exactly sure if the correct date since my Hubby threw it out with junk mail. So if someone can tell me the date and time and RSVP info that would be great
Re stats: my son top student but not close to valedictorian. Many ecs. All around kid. He got 25% off tuition. I would think a valedictorian would get more. Waiting for FA. Happy that my youngest D also likes the school and told me that she wants a BA not BFA so I will never have to go though this audition process again.

The date is April 13. The RSVP number is 2137401286. rsvp by apr 5.

Thanks for the info. Fingers crossed for all!

Thanks for the info. Fingers crossed for all! Can’t wait to be done with the waiting.

Yes, Muttle 1, one would have thought merit money would have been offered, but no. We also don’t show financial need on FAFSA, so maybe that was the criterion. We will never know.

My daughter just graduated from the BFA and she did receive one - my son a junior BFA did not receive one. I would take it as a good sign and wait for the post next week. My understanding is the decisions are being mailed on the 26th. Good luck everyone!
(Hi Madbean!)

I am keeping my fingers crossed for him. This waiting is just torture!

So you got the invitation by mail or email? I am also a student who has applied for BA of SDA, but I’m an international student and I haven’t received an invitation. Did that mean I was rejected?

The invitation came in the regular mail, so would take longer to get to you internationally. I live in Southern California (about 1 1/2 hours from USC) and it arrived 2 days ago.

Thank you so much!

Thanks madbean for the information. My son really likes USC. I truly hope this invitation is a good sign.

nifmom… I live in So Cal and USC is a top choice for the theater kids at their HS. In the past few years everyone who has gotten that invite has gotten in… so as madbean said, I wouldn’t go announcing to everyone just yet…but I think it is a very positive sign:)

Well I’m pretty sure that the invitations mean that you are accepted; just look at the last couple of years. I think that’s enough proof. Same thing goes for NYU: 2-3 years ago they used to send the invitations for accepted students before the official decision, and those who received the invitations were always accepted.
But the problem is that those who received USC’s invitations might not be accepted to their first choice (for example, accepted to the BA program instead of the BFA one)
