Ok, the my daughter applied BFA in Drama to USC and received the 2020 version of “Open House/Save The Date” Invite for April, that includes an invite to see their performance of The Secret Garden. Did anyone else get this? Everyone who auditioned? I’ve read the last few years comments about these mysterious postcards, lol
My daughter applied for BA in theatre. She also received that postcard. We’ve been looking at past posts as well. Haha! Past years discussed a save the date in December, which meant nothing. And then there was an invite a week before decisions, inviting them to the musical. That one indicated they were in. This seems a mix of both? The link on the postcard takes you to the RSVP and gives you tix to the musical and lunch. We know we won’t get our hopes up but would seem REALLY mean if they are sending these end of February. With the open house date after decisions come out, why would they send to the kids just weeks before decisions? Out of state families would need to make arrangements for this. My daughter is unable to attend because she is performing in a musical that weekend, and is a bummer. Looks like a great event! Good luck to your daughter! Hopefully others have some info/thoughts as well…
@mkendell @COmama24
Back in 2014, when my older daughter was applying to SDA, there did end up being a direct correlation to those SDA invites sent out a few weeks before the March decisions. She received one… as did others who posted on CC. At least that year, those invites were an early indication of admission. Hopefully things remain the same this cycle. It would be a little strange or even potentially cruel otherwise.
Good Luck…
Hi @COmama24 ! Thanks for the reply. I hadn’t clicked through the invite link until you mentioned this. Yes, it’s quite detailed! Reserving tickets for the musical, lunch choices, number in party… It does seem a bit mean to send out so soon before decisions, on the other hand, I guess we can look at it as encouraging, lol! BEST of luck to your daughter as well! We did RSVP yes, but I’m wondering why the heck she would want to go if she was ejected before then. Ao confusing, haha!
If it’s an invitation for an April event it means she’s in.
USC would not send invitation for any on campus events in April to those who will not be receiving the “big box” by the end of March.
thanks for the reply, @meloparkmom. We will remain cautiously optimistic!
Same! Thanks for the feedback @menloparkmom and @WWWard! I guess we will know soon enough. We should keep in touch @mkendell.
I messaged you, @COmama24
@mkendell I’m pretty computer savvy but don’t see anything in inbox? Where else are messages sent? I’m new here. LOL
Ok now I really did send you a message! Accidentally sent it at first to menloparkmama.
Hello-new to forum. D applied to USC SDA BA program and received a postcard in the mail for April 11 event -same as mkendell. But, The SDA website says not to infer admission to SDA or university. We are OOS so would need to make travel plans… and waiting until end of March for decision means expensive plane tix. This is very confusing…
I have sent an inquiry to someone at USC who hopefully will shed
light on the meaning of the postcards. stay tuned…
Thank you! @menloparkmom
Thank you! @menloparkmom We will just hold our breath and stay hopeful. @theannadc Same! You can see my post above. We are out of state as well…
Thank you everyone and special thanks to menloparkmom for making the inquiry. Honestly it would be good to know if they meant to send it to juniors as an info session and somehow got the names and addresses of our kids by mistake or if they are just doing mass mailings to all seniors who applied. Appreciate having a support system during this process!
It will be interesting to find out! I’m not sure about sending it to all that applied, as if you click through the event invite, they specially ask how many tickets to reserve for the show, the names of attendees, how many for lunch, dietary preferences, etc. That is kind of specific, if they were inviting all who applied. But I guess time will tell!
anyone else get the Invite to April Open House postcard this week?
OK, so my source at USC says the postcard was sent to ALL applicants, not just those who will be accepted. He know of what he speaks, btw.
Thank you for reaching out @menloparkmom! We will all still cross fingers and toes. Are you waiting on a decision as well?
Thank you @menloparkmom ! So both the earlier December postcard and this one with the “invite” was sent to all applicants? My daughter’s friends didn’t get the second ones. That’s why I ask:)
