USC vs NYU vs American?

I've been accepted to all three of these and got waitlisted at Barnard (if I were to be accepted, I'd go there in a heartbeat). But for the moment, it's down to these three. I got a considerable scholarship to American, and negligible amounts from USC and NYU. If I were to go to USC, I would go to their Annenberg Journalism school, which I know is very good. If I went to American, I would go to their International Service school, and if I went to NYU, I would go to their CAS.

I live in Texas, if that makes a difference. I'm obviously looking for a city atmosphere, but what I want most of all is a school that will guarantee me the abilities and resources to secure a job right out of college.

Thank you for any help! I'm completely underwater here.

What are you planning on majoring in?

Have you visited the campuses?

What do you like or dislike about the schools?

How much does each cost? Can you afford these schools?

I have visited all three campuses. The downside to USC is the area of LA in which it is located, but the campus itself is lovely. NYU’s campus was wonderful too, but the integrated city-feel is something I’d have to adjust to. I am absolutely enamored with New York though, I’ve been 3 times and can’t get enough of the culture. That contrasts with American’s insulated campus vibe, though DC is a great city as well. I would be majoring in international relations at both NYU and American, and Journalism as previously mentioned at USC. The cost is considerably more for both NYU and USC (by about 20,000/yr) than American. I wouldn’t have to take out loans to afford them, but it would deplete my college fund completely.

Just to note:

At NYU IR is an honors major within the Politics Department - this means that you have to complete certain pre-reqs and maintain a 3.65 GPA both overall and in the pre-reqs in order to apply for the IR major. If accepted, you’re expected to maintain this average.

Do you, personally, think NYU or USC is worth the additional $20,000/yr? If you don’t spend all of your college fund, will your parents give you the remaining money? Would that money help with your after-college plans?
