So, I was considering giving the USHistory test a try, to take it either in November or December. If I studied USHistory,** I would be basically starting from scratch. **

So, if I use Direct Hits USHistory + Sparknotes USHistory, would any score at 700+ be do-able?

Thank you very much in advance.

If you’re starting completely from scratch, I’d HIGHLY suggest getting AMSCO’s AP guide to get a full background into USH first. As long as you’ve read through that nicely, any other slimmer review book should suffice.

Hm. AMSCO seems really comprehensive, but it is 700+ pages and senior year will be very busy indeed. Do you believe it will be possible to study sufficiently before November/December?

I think DH should be enough for you. Start early, though.

Does AMSCO pretty much teach you everything you need to know to ace the APUSH and probably the US sat?

Yes, but DH does it in about 400 fewer pages.

Alright. I ordered DH, and I might consider AMSCO later on. Maybe I’ll want to buy if I finish studying DH early. In the meantime (before DH actually arrives) I’m studying Sparknotes USHistory to get as good as possible a foundation on the topics covered by the US History test.

Thanks everyone.

(@314159265: Do you have any estimate on how much time DH would require? I’m fairly good at memorizing completely random facts, and very good when it comes to cause-and-effect events)

I powered through it in about 2-3 days before the AP US History exam.
