UT austin 2017/2018 Transfer Thread

@Tylergary2 Hook 'em!

Decisions are still being announced, right?? I havenā€™t heard anything for psychology, but I know some psych decisions were announced. Does no news mean bad news?

Hey guys, got accepted to UT History! 2 LOR, 3 essays, internship/part time at a tech company, and 3.365 GPA from UT Dallas with 31 hours. I thought they were going to wait for my grades from this semester but no complaining here! Hook 'em!!

I havenā€™t seen anyone denied yet. Thatā€™s awesome

Iā€™m still in review and itā€™s torture! However, I did just speak to someone in admissions who told me that ā€œthere is no rhyme or reason as to how and she decisions are releasedā€ and that they are issuing denials at the same time as acceptances. She gave me a lot of helpful information and made me feel better. So, even if youā€™ve seen other people admitted to your major and you havenā€™t gotten in, donā€™t give up hope!

This is so reassuring to know! I have been very very worried. Did she say anything else?

@gymnast1256 she said that all decisions would be released no later than 1/2, and that the bulk will be released between now and 12/22 when they leave for break. She said that decisions are released by applicant and not by college or major, so just because other people have gotten admitted to your major doesnā€™t mean that you wonā€™t also be admitted. She assured me that they donā€™t hold back denials until the last minute and that some applicants have already been told theyā€™re not getting in.

Oh this is incredible, I am so glad to hear it. How close to the deadline did you submit your application? Do you think that has anything to do with it? Mine was submitted the day before

Hey there @gymnast1256! I do not believe that the date you submitted your application has anything to do with when you receive your decision. This was not the case for me at least. I believe I submitted my application the night before it was due, and received my acceptance on November 28th. Good luck, and I hope to hear that you receive good news soon!

Same here I submitted mine like the day before the dead line and found out 2 days before thanksgiving. I really have no idea how they are realsing decisions. Doesnā€™t seem like their is any correlation

If youā€™re applying for fall 2018 admission when should you hear back on your decision??

Well if its anything like Spring admission, probably 2 weeks before the semester starts. Sorryā€¦Iā€™m just salty that I havenā€™t heard back yet. Iā€™m not sure what the answer is, but I know some other threads were discussing this at length.

I called the admissions office this morning. They told me that decisions will be released in the next few days, although COLA is running slightly behind. She said if I do not hear anything by this coming Monday, I should call again and ask for an update. She said the decisions that will be released in January (after the break) are only for those who are still waiting on transcripts to be submitted. So this sounds to me like good news, and that we will all know soon.

Hey guys,

Im a current student at UMich but iā€™m looking to transfer to UT (COLA, Sociology). Would a 3.45 GPA my freshman year be enough? I took some tough classes like Chemistry and Calculus but Iā€™m not sure how much they care that Iā€™m transferring from a higher ranked school.

I got in! I got accepted to the college of Liberal Arts as an English major, I had a 3.26 GPA from my first two semesters at community college, I had one letter of rec and my essays were good. I also had a lot of volunteer hours and was pretty involved both in high school and college.

I got in! COLA Psychology. Congrats to everyone else as well. 3.4 GPA, 3 strong essays, 2 letters of rec, 4 years of professional experience.

I got in! COLA ANTHROPOLOGY. Good luck to everyone still waiting. 3.5? GPA 2 Good essays and 3 LOR 2 Prof. And one personal. No EC- Full time job. A somewhat detailed resume.

Hey guys! I transferred to UT from TTU during the Fall of 2015. Let me know if you guys have any questions!

what is the first choice major and second choice your applying too? @CollegeGuyPlus
