@awesomesaucee, hey while youā€™re at it, why not add me to the list as well?

Petroleum Engineering Major at Penn State, University Park with 24 credits by Fallā€™17, cgpa of 4.0 (Summerā€™17+Fallā€™17) and 41 by Springā€™18, looking to transfer into the Cockrell School of Engineering at UT Austin. Got a decent resume, strong essays, and 3 LOR. Thanks!

@sean191297 got you

If you asked to be added, please make sure you post your decision when the time comes. Even if you get rejected
Thank you

@tigger68 Thanks for the info. I have 43 hours so they arenā€™t waiting on more hours/grades from me. The waiting is agony!

I have the lowest GPA lol

@Wakgood haha yeah a 3.72 being the lowest gpa so far is kinda ridiculous. I guess its also a selection bias because the people who are most likely to post this early are prob the ones most obsessed with doing well and transferring to UT

I agree with @awesomesaucee , I was rejected by UT Austin before, so I went to Penn State which is on the same level as UT, but then again since UTā€™s my dream school as petroleum engineering major, Iā€™ve been trying my best to maintain a high GPA, so that history doesnā€™t repeat itself.

So on my MyStatus I see on the completed section that they have my ACT Scores and HS Transcript (from when I applied as a senior in high school a year ago). Will they use those in making an admissions decision? It was my understanding that they base the decision purely on college materialā€¦

@cs23305 I called the admission office last month about that and they said they donā€™t factor those into your admission decision. It just shows all the files that they have under your name

Hello everyone,

I have applied for international transfer admission to UT Austin for FALL 2018, and I am really worried regarding the admission decision , which they will post by the end of april. Please, look over my stats, and let me know if my transfer application to cockrell college of engineering is strong enough to be admitted.

Transferring from Community College

Second Major : Mathematics

  1. GPA : 3.53 ( 80 Credit Hours)
  2. 4 Recommendation letter from MATH ,PHYSICS ,CHEMISTRY AND COUNSELOR

  6. Completed maximum engineering pre-requisite courses ( Calculus I-Calculus III, Differential Equation, Linear Algebra, Probability and Statistics for Engineers) ,( University Physics I, University Physics II, Chemistry I, Programming I , Programming II)
  7. Worked as a math tutor

@Diplovsn I added you to the transfer list.

In my personal opinion, your GPA might be a bit too low for Cockrell engineering, especially computer engineering which is one of the more competitive disciplines. However, this is just my opinion and anything could happen. Good luck!

Hello, Iā€™m a sophomore at Austin Community College hoping to transfer to UT Austin for Fall 2018, and I was wondering if someone could weigh in on my chances.

I work part time as a fast food restaurant; still working on my essays for my application. Only ECs are from high school, but itā€™s not much. I would apply to engineering but the 3.8+ threshold makes me lean to mathematics. I feel like my chances are low. Please chance me!

Here are the details of the course I have taken :

Calculus I (A)
Calculus II(A)
Calculus III(A) - Repeated
Differential Equation(A)
Linear Algebra(A)
Probability and Statistics for Engineers(B)

Science Courses :
University Physics I(A)
University Physics II(A)
General Chemistry(A)

General Psychology(A)

Now, you might wonder how my GPA is still 3.53 with all these Aā€™s. I am honor roll student for 4 semesters. My GPA got screwed by one semester when I got 1 F ( Calculus III), and 1D(Biology) .( Failed one semester due to some circumstances , and I have explained it on my second topic essay). What do you guys think on this scenario ?

@Diplovsn You might want to consider internal transfer instead. UT Austin makes transfer decisions mostly (almost solely) based on GPA. I donā€™t want to give you unrealistic hope and I understand my advice could come off as presumptuous. But you have 0% chance to be admitted into Cockrell. I recommend you to put Mathematics as your first choice to maximize the chance of admission. It is still very unlikely that you will be admitted because you are an international applicant. I wanted to tell you the rough truth because your application tactic seems too optimistic. Best of luck though!
