do you guys think I have a chance for getting into computer science ?
@utcshopeful You have a 4.0 so⊠yeah I would say you have a good shot. Is there any prerequisites that you would have had to have completed? And are you out-of-state? If you have all the prerequisites done, and my God you have a 4.0 I would kill to have that, and yourâre in-state, then you have a pretty good shot. But out-of-state students are held to a much higher standard then in-state
Does anyone know anybody that got into COLA with a 3.4-3.5 who did bad in Dual Credit but did good at community college?
Yeah I am instate and have all the classes completed on the recommended transfer guide @Thompson2688 idk I am still very nervous
my essays are a big bleh
@utcshopeful could you link me to the recommended transfer guide? Are you talking about the one for ACC students or is there one for all CS transfers?
Has anyone called and asked admissions when they expect decisions to start rolling out?
@colanxgirl it is usually same time every year. If you have 24+ hours on the transcript you submitted, it usually starts around April 15. If not, you have to wait for them to receive your spring grades and you will probably get a decision in late May to early June
@awesomesaucee there is one for all transfers too, what college are u applying from ? https://admissions.utexas.edu/apply/transfer-resources/tccn-transfer-guides
basically having calc 3 and all your sciences done is a big plus
@utcshopeful I am applying from Tulane University, an out-of-state school, but I am an in-state resident. I have Calc 1, 2, 3, and differential equations done. I also have Physics 1+2 done as well as Chem 1+2 and EngPhysics 1 complete.
I also have AP credits for government, psychology, and statistics that are listed on my transcript, which I think count towards the CS degree plan, but not sure if that increases my chances of admission
By all transfers, do you mean even students from 4 year colleges? I canât find it on the page you linked @utcshopeful
chances?
Applying to Cockrell for the ECE program
GPA:4.0
Will have 30+ hours when including my spring 2018 semester.
Technical Courses taken: Calc 1, Chem 1
Technical Courses in process: Calc 2, Physics, Geology
Have decent essays and pretty good LOR
@batman222 pretty good. added you to the list
@awesomesaucee your honestly fine Tulane is a great school, and you have a lot of stem credits that you obviously aced, you probably have a better chance than me lol. Did u have any good ECâs ?
UT has no transfer guides for students from other 4-year colleges because it is considered unethical for a university to actively recruit transfer students away from another university.
@utcshopeful I have lots of work experience and awards from high school, and I made a couple apps and learned some programming languages while in college on my own (I was studying biomedical engineering). Unfortunately no computer science internships or research because I wasnât in a relevant field
@PastePotPete that makes sense. Donât you think they would have transfer guides for CAP students who are going to 4-year universities?
FYI to anyone who applied to Moody
I just spoke to admissions yesterday and apparently there are 100 transfer slots available. Typically, anywhere from 900 to 1,000 people apply. Hope we are apart of that lucky 100!
@awesomesacee Go to https://admissions.utexas.edu/enroll/cap/prospective-students/uta and click on âapproved course listâ for each UT System campus.
@PastePotPete Oh interesting, they do have it. Doesnât really help me much, but thanks for the link!
