@ddance11 Thompson2688 is correct. If I had to guess, I would say transfer admission is surely less holistic than freshman admission and they are more focused on GPA and course rigor. Do everything you can to get as close to a 4.0 in your first year as possible.
@Thompson2688 no sorry
@awesomesaucee Would it look bad if my classes have been: Tx-Gov and Fed-Gov, College Algebra, Macro and Mirco econ, ENVR 1 and 2 (with labs), Art History 2, and World Lit 2? I got a 4.0 in my first semester and that was enough to give me 28 hours. Iām applying to Gov and History and got a recommendation letter from my Gov professor, who is a UT alumni. Do you think my course rigor is slightly lacking?
@Thompson2688 your classes look on par for someone going for Government and History, I think youāre fine.
did yāall submit your resume and essays as word documents or pdfās
@utcshopeful P.D.Fā¦ Always submit it as a pdf. If you do not then the format of the document might change, which could be catastrophic.
@utcshopeful The apply texas submission form lets you paste your essays in the given word processor and shows you a formated version before submission
For my resume I converted to a PDF tho.
@Thompson2688 thanks lol that would of been bad if i did
I hope someone gets back to you @longhorn322 as I am curious myself!
@longhorn322 and @OGmandyV To my knowledge you have to get convicted of a felon/misdemenor, like murder (gasp!). If you get admitted it would be pretty stupid just to bomb your other classes because that would destroy your overall GPA. But I donāt think they can retract admission because of that.
Well I didnāt set out to not do well, canāt speak for @longhorn322ā¦ I have one class that was unexpectedly more challenging tha I expected. I guess it would be pretty stupid to purposefully bomb your classes, but thatās not what happened for meā¦ It is what it is, but I did read (not specific to UT) that some schools will withdraw your admissions if you have a slip up. Iām trying not worry about it but itās disappointing that I might have inadvertently damaged my chances. I have time to retake the class, so hopefully all will be fine. But I definitely wouldnāt fail a class purposefully.
I am trying not to be rude, but I donāt appreciate your assumption about my educational situation @Thompson2688. Itās impolite to just assume we are slacking off or donāt care.
@OGmandyV I donāt think they will rescind an acceptance for a poor spring grade. I believe once you get accepted, they only use spring grades to evaluate credit for courses
Well my classes arenāt really too bad this semester, I was just trying to map out every scenario that could possibly happen during the admissions process, as most of us do in this thread due to our eagerness, & this question came up. I would assume that everyone in this thread takes their grades seriously at this point in time seeing that UT Austin is at least a moderately prestigious institution.
@OGmandyV I didnāt mean for that to be directed at you, it was just a generalization of some people that I know personally who did that. More than likely nobody on this thread would do that, seeing as we are trying to be admitted to UT Austin so our academic dedication speaks for itself. Iām sorry if I upset you over, I didnāt mean for that to be the case.
@awesomesaucee Wait let me get this straight. If I have 24 or more transferrable hours, they wont ask for my spring transcript (for decision making purposes), even if Iām applying to a school that takes a while to admit people (engineering)? I just donāt want to stress over a B and the closure would be nice to have
@elijahtom Yes, if you have over 24 hours, submitting your spring transcript is not necessary. I wonāt be submitting a spring transcript if I get accepted (I donāt have one to submit, iām not currently in school)
@elijahtom No they will not. However, if you are denied, and petition your denial with your spring transcript, you might have the possibility for admittance.
Sorry my last post might have confused some people. To rephrase, No they will not look into your spring transcripts, and yes it is not necessary to send them in. (Didnāt see @awesomesaucee 's post until now my b).
Hey guys when you submit your essays on the document upload system, does it allow you to select what prompt the essay is responding to ?
