@bullrider420 Oh okay. Unfortunately, McCombs requires Calc 1 and 2 to even be considered and even though CS has no formal requirements, it would be basically impossible without credit for calculus. To transfer internally inside UT to McCombs or CS, you are going to need a 3.9+ to have a shot as well as have the pre-reqs completed. I would only go this route if you are VERY confident that you can get that high of a GPA once at UT (keep in mind UT is going to be much more rigorous than a CC), unless you want to get stuck in your original major.
March 1st is here
So when they say that there are only a certain amount of spots for transfers, does that mean per college or per major in a college or both? I applied to Sociology and I feel like admission would be less competitive than Psychology because Psychology recieves most of the applications for students interested in studying the brain and that is one of the most popular areas among the social sciences. Also, I think Sociology would have a lower average accepted GPA. (At least compared to itās bigger/more competitive sibling Psych) Thoughts? I-)
@YungManZ our apps go into review soon [-O<
@longhorn322 I think it would vary by major, because I know certain majors in Cockrell (petroleum eng) and CNS (computer science) are much harder to get accepted too and have less spots than the rest of the college. This is all speculation, and I donāt know the numbers for sociology or psychology
How often are people denied first major but offered second?
Is it rare ?
I am also interested in this
hopefully transfer into UT-transfer in with 54 hours, but some our dual credit, AP credit, and then college credit for CC and OSU. Business degree
@jumpo69 I would call and ask because I have no idea, nor do I think thereās anywhere on the interwebs which gives us those details. (There is a stat from last fall that talked about applied/admitted. I would not rely on that because the people who applied to Business, may have also applied to cola which skews the numbers a bit).
does anyone know if american studies in cola is a competitive major at UT?
@angelica119a It isnāt competitive at all.
@jumpo69 if your second major is competitive, they very rarely give it to people because they want to give it to those who put it as their first choice. If your second major is not as competitive or popular, you have a shot of receiving it if you donāt get an offer for your first choice.
quick question, on the majorās section of my status, I should be putting 60+ hours correct? That is the number of hours I intend to get?
My second choice is applied mathematics / actuarial Science. So itās stil in CNS but itās not as competitive. I have a friend that was in my Calc 3 class that applied in the fall and got in for the spring semester.
Is government competitive or no? Also is anyoneās application in review yet or still just complete?
Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh I want them to start reviewing today!!!
Do yall know how UT calculates transfer gpa? I took Dual Credit from a place that was on the +/- scale (meaning a B- gave me a 2.7 instead of a 3) and was wondering if UT would count that as a 2.7 or a 3.
@Thompson2688 I believe UT does not count + and - in the GPA calculation. So a B- would be a 3.0 and a B+ would also be a 3.0.
Hi guys, can someone chance me cause Iām not sure my chances after reading all of these comments? There is a lot.
Iām a TX resident that started at a private school in TX and played volleyball there. I have the accomplishment of going to the NCAA Championships (if that matters?) and wrote one of my essays involving that. I was a Bio major and got 26 credits (did not include AP or CC credits) I ended the full year with a 3.3. The next year I transferred to an out-of-state public school (where I am currently) and switched to Business. I ended last semester with a 4.0 and have all my gen eds done here and just starting taking business minor classes (still undeclared technically). I currently have 72 credits which is A TON and freaking me out (but most are from them accepting my CC/AP credits). The only college credits I actually have right now are from the 26 from my old school and + 16 from last semester).
I applied to COLA to switch to Psychology with a 2nd choice for advertising.
I know Iām all over the place, but my credits are really all from general requirements - nothing too specific. Iām not sure how that will affect meā¦ and if transferring twice previously will deter me?
Recommendation Letter: Working on it from previous coach
Extracurriculars: Past collegiate volleyball player, part of a sorority now
Concerns: I have a ton of credits but am only a second year, not a lot of specific psychology course at the moment, and have transferred twice. I have a high GPA though (but I know thatās not the only thing that matters)
@Thompson2688 @awesomesaucee I thought UT does count +/- when determining GPA
@tigger68 They do for your internal GPA (the credits you get while at UT). I was wondering if they did the same for transferring externally.
