UT austin 2017/2018 Transfer Thread

For those who will have completed prerequisites by the end of this semester, rest assured, as your application will be reviewed twice, given that you are relatively competitive. The decision of my application has been postponed to June 1st. You could say I have received a “conditional acceptance”

The offer letter reads as follows;

“Thank you for your application to Texas A&M University. The College of Engineering has reviewed your application for
Fall 2018 transfer admission and would like to postpone a decision in order to re-review your file once the spring semester is complete and you have sent in your spring grades.
Please send an official transcript with Spring grades to the Office of Admissions by June 1, 2018, at which time we will
reconsider your application for Fall admission. Only those reviewed applicants whom the college determines as
competitive are given the opportunity to submit spring grades for a second review. If we do not receive a transcript by
June 1, we will assume that you have made plans to enroll elsewhere in the Fall and do not wish to be considered further
for admission to Texas A&M.
Reconsideration for the fall term is limited to applicants studying in the U.S.”

I assume UT will do the same thing, provided that the fall transcript that you have sent provides sufficient evidence as to whether or not you are taking the prerequisites in the current semester before actually transferring.

Hope this solves the confusion.

Okay, not to side track the convo, but…

Even though it’s early, is anyone else checking their mystatus like a crackhead who’s been up for like 72 hours (meaning, you’re about to explode emotionally and then probably faint from lack of oxygen)? I hope my humor comes across even if it’s not funny. No offense intended to anyone who has dealt with substance abuse.

@OGmandyV I’m doing the exact same :)) . This wait is becoming excruciating but I hope it’s worth it!

I just really hope I find out early. It may be a struggle to register for the good professors at UT or anywhere else if it’s late.

I think I may need a new mouse

Alright can I be added to the list?
I applied to McCombs as a high school senior last year and got CAP (I had a 4.0 but not in top 7%)
This year I attended a private four-year university in Texas but trying to transfer

Intended major: Communication Studies, Corporate Communication track
Backup major; Government, COLA
GPA: 4.0
Hours: 15 from Fall semester, 21 from AP, so 36 total
2 good essays
1 LOR from job I worked at over the summer
Good resume, lots of extracurriculars and awards

Even with a 4.0 and picking a less competitive school like Moody, I’m still paranoid I won’t get in!

@mccombswannabe Im in the same shoes as you, Im a moody applicant with a 4.0 and really paranoid I wont get in

I’m COLA government with 3.94 and I’m sick about it every day! Just want an answer.

@mccombswannabe Added you

Can I be added? And can somebody chance me? I applied for the Fall 2018 semester. 1st choice Public Relations. 2nd choice Economics (not at McCombs). Transferring from HBU. 41 total hours. Only 38 transferable hours. Only 32 hours that go towards both choice majors. Total GPA of 3. Transferable GPA of 3.157. And major specific GPA is 3.375. Great essays. 2 great LORs (one from a lawyer and former Secretary of State of Texas). 100+ volunteer hours. Currently working in public relations/ business for 4 years now at a music company. I know it’s a long shot but I’m really hoping I get in. I’ve alreay been accepting to UT Dallas school of management and University of Houston Bauer school of Business. Thanks y’all!

@mktexas2018 I got you :slight_smile:

Question. So my application still says its “complete” doesn’t say its in review or anything. Should I be worried???

@thetruespacejam Yes.

Any advice on what I should do? I don’t have a plan B

@thetruespacejam Contact the Admissions Office ASAP.

@thetruespacejam Do you have enough transferable credits? Waiting on spring grades?

@Thompson2688 haha I’m glad I’m not alone!!!

@prayingUTGuy01 AMEN! lol!

I currently have 37 hours completed and I’ll have an additional 18 hours by the end of the spring semester. I also have a relatively high GPA.

what major did you apply to?
are you taking any specific pre-reqs this semester?
are you an instate, out of state, or an international student?
