@Thompson2688 Hi sorry I just saw this! I wanted to change majors… but I might have actually just screwed myself over Now I’m thinking advertising would have been a better fit with what I’m doing currently, and changing majors while trying to transfer may not have been the smartest move. Also, I knew I wouldn’t have gotten into McCombs… I guess I’m going to have to just wait and see :-/
I applied to Cockrell school of engineering, and I’m currently taking two prerequisites (Engineering physics and calculus 2). I am an in-state student and after the spring semester, I should have all my prerequisites done.
@thetruespacejam Your application won’t go into review until you finish your pre requisites and submit your spring grades to show them completion.
Remember: If you have your pre-requisites being worked on this semester, they will set your application aside until your spring transcripts come in. The only time they would ever throw out your application is if you 1. Have below a 3.0. 2. Don’t have all the pre-reqs done (Ex: You don’t have Calc 1 and 2 done but your completing calc 1 this semester. However, you will still not have Calc 2 done, so they will throw out your application). 3. You won’t have the amount of hours required for transfer by the time your spring transcripts come in.
If anyone has any questions please feel free to ask. A lot of us have searched up and down for information, mainly because we’re just as nervous, and really want to help everyone here. If y’all want help from an actual UT admissions person, go to texadmissions.com. This guy used to be on the admission committee and knows what he’s talking about. He also has a YouTube channel called UTAdmissionsGuy, and I implore y’all to check it out.
(accidentally posted twice)
You guys think that since they allowed an extra week to send in items that decisions will be pushed back accordingly?
Doubt it. Since decisions are rolling, they could have started reviewing even while some people were sending in items. I imagine they didn’t make everyone wait to get reviewed while a few more people sent in documents.
Has anyone heard if anyone has gotten any decisions on other social media sites?
@colanxgirl No, I have only seen the first years get admitted. It is pretty early for transfers, I think.
Called and admissions said they’ll likely start sending decisions out May 1st through June. The majority of people will find out in May.
@awesomesaucee @BluePinkerton see my message above
So my application is now in review. Does anyone know how competitive it is to get into the school of engineering? Whats the average GPA.
@OGmandyV Last year people started hearing back the second week of April?
@mktexas2018 maybe they are saying that so people will stop bugging them! That’s what I’m choosing to think and hoping next week decisions start coming out! :-*
My application also just went into review today. They received my second quarter grades (which pushed me above the 24 unit minimum requirement) two days ago.
@OGmandyV I really hope that is not the case because that is ridiculous if the decisions won’t come out till may.
But it’s THIS year not last… they also extended parts of the deadline and we don’t know the number of people who applied this year. Plus each year things on the backend may be evolving leading to delays.
I’m hopeful that it’ll be in April, but I’m literally just the messenger. Please feel welcome to call and get a different answer or ask follow up questions. I’m sorry I did not. Didn’t mean to start a firestorm, was just passing on what I thought might be useful information.
In my experience, the people who answer questions about admissions when you call really have no idea when decisions come out.
@OGmandyV I know I’m sorry. Didn’t mean to get all mad, just under a lot of stress from school, job, and waiting on admissions. I’ll call on Monday to see, not to prove you wrong, just to check to see if I get a different answer. Again, sorry for getting all upset, didn’t mean for it to be pointed in your way.
It’s okay. I’m just passing info along. I understand people call and receive different responses frequently. I thought it would be helpful to have at least some semblance of an answer directly from the school.
