So I guess we can expect the next wave of decisions to come out next Friday (12/16) going based off previous years?
Indeed…that becomes the next milestone in this waiting game…
My forensic analysis of the Class of 2020 Decision thread shows a wave of decisions (engineering, non-auto admit) came out on December 17, 2015. The corresponding date this year is December 15.

When are business honors program decisions being released?
@KevinRMartin HI I know you’re a super, godlike experienced admissions helper and I’m wanting to ask you a question. When I first I got confirmed automatic acceptance, I thought that I am supposed to accept the offer of admission for them to continue reviewing my application so I did. Someone later on said that if you accept the offer of admission too early then UT know they got you and now they have no apparent incentive to place you in your first choice major. Now I’m scared. Is this true?
@AngelFoxtrot Probably not true. Our D was autoadmit and waiting on business and Plan II. She accepted and still got both. Hang in there.
Has any out of state people gotten an admissions response? Or do you know when we will get a response?
@ginger2151 I was accepted OOS ! I applied on October 5th. I think they do it based on how early you apply
^I think it varies. My son didn’t hear about engineering until February and he had applied early.
@sakura1 First, congrats!
Can you please let us know:
- When did you get accepted?
- Did you get an email or did you have to keep checking the portal?
- Major
- GPA and Scores
Thanks!
My daughter just found out through the portal that she was accepted as a Turing Scholar. Does this imply she would get a Turing Scholarship or is that a completely separate process?
Thanks.
@drshoema - congrats!
It is a separate process- although no more paperwork is requried. They will decide based on your application, stats, etc. You will hear about scholarships later on.
@drshoema Did your daughter get her decision today? Did she get an email or did she have to check her portal to know? I applied for the Turing honors program before October 15th so I am curious as to when I will get my decision. When did your daughter submit? Congratulations to your daughter!
@swolff99 She just happened to check her portal and it was there today. It wasn’t there Friday because I had told her that she might start hearing something this week, and when she checked it wasn’t there. She finished her application in late October.
@bookmom7 Thanks. Do you have any idea of how many kids gets Turing Scholar acceptance vs Turing Scholar Scholarships?
@drshoema Did you receive an email about the admission or you have to check the portal to find out?
@texasee She did not get an email - just happened to check her portal.
@durna01 I was admitted about two weeks ago. You don’t get an email. When you get accepted and go to your portal, aside from the regular freshman admission tab (and the honors tabs if you applied for any honors programs), there will be a tab that says “next steps for enrollment”. I was accepted to the philosophy major, but hope to be admitted into Plan II! As for my scores, I have good ones, but I don’t think that sharing them makes much of a difference for anyone and, for me at least, just adds stress.
@drshoema - hmmm. I was trying to remember if they gave us a number last year at the admitted student’s day & was coming up blank. Looked at last years thread & still don’t have a good idea. I don’t think they are not as generous as they used to be but, there is a new scholarship honoring Dr. Lin- the director that might open up more $.
Guess- and this is only a guess- maybe 1/2 the students get some money.
One thing we did learn was that CNS stresses they provide more scholarship opportunities for returning students rather than a lot of awards for freshman.
My DS did not get a Turing Scholarship but, did get one from Dean’s.
Letters are mailed out around mid-March.
