@ad93107 It really depends. People usually apply to on-campus housing /very/ early to try and guarantee a spot and by early I mean before the end of October. This is not to say you don’t have a chance if you sent in your application now; although don’t count on getting your top choice or even a place.
@ad93107 You will get a spot for sure, maybe not first pick depending on the dorm. My daughter is a freshmen at UT this year she did her housing deposit in Feb., people even got into dorms doing there housing deposit later then that but I wouldn’t try and wait too long. They did run out of rooms for freshmen this year which was a first in a long time for UT.
Thanks for your input, @Prep1233 and @CorpusChristi . I was concerned that not accepting her offer right away might have some downside, like for her housing choice or major assignment, but I guess that’s not a problem if she’s already accepted into her major of choice and has submitted her initial on-campus housing request.
Did anyone get into cockrell’s chemical engineering?
Does anyone know if UT will release any more decisions over the break? I applied for Liberal Arts in late August and have yet to hear back.
Me too want to know if cockreal engg college result has come out ?
I applied to UT mid-November to the CNS, when would I most likely receive an admissions decision? How long does the process normally take? Thanks in advance !
All of you who are logging on to ask when you will get a decision— I think the best answer is “no one really knows!” Look through last years threads maybe for some reassurance? I find that to be helpful sometimes.
There are IN-state kids with high stats who have not yet received an answer if that helps you a bit. It’s hard to wait, but you are asking a bunch of people who are all relatively new at this too!! Hang in there!
@carachel2 is 100% correct. There seems to be very little rhyme or reason to the way UT releases decisions. I am confident that inside of admissions they have a rationale, but the rationale seems to be a classified. Maybe the Russians know.
In our DD’s experience, she applied early and wasn’t admitted until Feb. She was an excellent candidate too.
I recently emailed admissions to ask when they would release more decisions and this is the response I got:
"Hello,
We do not anticipate releasing any more decisions until the coming new year, sometime in February, and no later than March 1, 2017 directly to your MyStatus page."
So based on this it looks like there won’t be any decisions going out in January.
One of my friends got accepted OOS to Cockrell yesterday and she turned hers in on the very last day and I have still yet to hear back… it feels like there really is no rhyme or reason to these admission releases.
@kramerismynamer are you and you’re friend Texas natives??? Im from NY and I have no clue when to expect an admissions decision
@paulgiamatti123 Expect to receive your admission decision by March 1 - and consider it a bonus if you find out any earlier. There is no rhyme or reason and looking at last year’s thread provides only historical data; UT may release decisions at completely different times this year. Good luck to all who are waiting.
If we really are getting a Feb or March decision, then how would honors work? I applied for EHP and I read somewhere that they notify you in January if you get it. If I haven’t gotten my major yet, is is safe to assume I probably won’t get honors?
@IvyReject1 I would not read anything into not hearing as of yet.
@IvyReject1 The way I read the Engineering Honors program is that they will start inviting to the program in January and continue thru March. Our daughter is an admitted engineering student waiting to hear from Honors, and they said the earliest will be January and then ongoing.
My two cents worth…as difficult as it it to wait without feedback, I think it may be better not to hear than to get the EA deferrals and the letters saying, effectively, “show us how interested you are before we admit you.” It seems this application year most top schools have gone to ED and Early Deferral (that they are calling Early Action). Among my child’s peers, I am seeing extremely low denial rates/high deferral rates for EA applicants among the Ivies and top-rated schools with higher acceptance rates among ED applicants. This yield game has to end – it is such a disservice to our students! Kudos to schools like UT for still admitting a relatively decent % in Nov-Dec without forcing students into a deferral limbo where they are expected to submit additional essays, visit campus again, and seek more accomplishments. Hang in there!
I applied to UT Austin mid-November. I was wondering if there were any McCombs students who got their admissions already. Does the stats of the person affect how fast they send out the decisions? If so, if my stats are pretty good when should I hope for a reply? This is my first-choice college and I really hope I get admitted. I am OOS.
@paulgiamatti123 we’re from Maryland
Son received a holiday card from UT. He is eagerly waiting (first choice) and wish we had a decision before holidays!!!
