@habitualnerd congrats! It just means that you are getting complete coverage of UT Dallas tuition and mandatory fees and $3,000 per semester cash stipend to defray the costs of books, supplies and other expenses. I am not certain on whether this changes your OOS fees to instate fees, so that would have to be something you’d contact UTD for. It doesn’t disqualify you from having a chance at the McDermott scholarship, because as far as I know, they are two separate things. You can get the McDermott scholarship while having this, but you’d just be getting one or the other because of the amount of money it would cover. The McDermott covers more than the Honors AES so they would probably just remove the AES and award you that because you’d be getting more money.
McDermott finalists have been notified.
@habitualnerd: Did you receive your notification in the mail or email?
Email. @Smippi
On another note, upon closer examination, the letter seems to stipulate that OOS AES recipients will get in-state tuition? Does that mean I don’t get my tuition paid for bc I’m OOS and only get the in-state rate or is this only included for the Achievement level AES?
@itsgettingreal17 how do you know that the finalists for mcdermott have been notified?
@habitualnerd, all AES scholarship recipients are eligible for in state tuition. So for the Achievement level, the scholarship would pay for about half of the tuition and it would not matter if you were instate or OOS.
@GTAustin I got the Honors level award. My question was even though I am out of state, am I still eligible to get my tuition paid for / the stipend?
@habitualnerd, congratulations on the Honors level. Yes, all of your tuition and fees will be paid for and you will receive $3000/semester that can be used towards room and board. R&B is normally around $11 to $12K, so you will have half of your housing paid for. That leaves you responsible for about $6K plus books, travel cost to school and spending money per year. You do get the $3000/semester whether you live on campus or off (which is unusual).
Hey guys, I was admitted to UTD on Jan 24th. Do you think I will receive noti for the aes in early March?
@Pham2000, I would think so or possible a bit earlier.
@GTAustin Thanks! I have 34 ACT and 9.3/10 GPA (considered an A in Vietnam). Do you think I have a shot at Distinction or Honors?
@Pham2000 are you a US citizen or green card holder or will you be attending UTD on a student VISA? If you are not eligible to work in the US than you might not be awarded any cash stipend because it is considered taxable income.

I got admitted on December 4 but haven’t heard anything yet; have applications from then already been looked at for AES?
@goompy You should try contacting them. I did and they said that they would give me an update within 2 weeks!
@3scoutsmom really? I wasn’t aware. But may I ask if I’m still eligible to work part-time?
Hey guys, I’ve just checked “View financial aid” and saw this. Is this Distinction? I don’t really understand it tho

Yes it is! Congrats!! @Pham2000
so the 6,264 per semester covers your tuition and u get an extra 1,000 each semester for books or whatever you want to use for! @Pham2000
hey @Pro1234 what about the anticipated waiver spring/fall? And also, I’m an international student, so I won’t get the 1000 stipend right?
and also, when I try accepting the award, it says that “award access not available” I think there might be a glitch here lol
Well i am not sure what the anticipated waiver is bt it might be some sort of grant. And you got awarded the 1k stipend so which means you can use it. I think the reason you can’t accept it yet because you probably haven’t accepted your offer of admission. SO you need to accept the offer of admission before you can accept the award. You can also call or email them for a clarification. @Pham2000
