Ut

<p>hello everyone, just wanted your opinions on whether or not you think i can get into UT. i'm pretty sure i'm not a top %10 so here is some info...</p>

<p>Hispanic male from TX I'm currently a junior,
first in my family to go to college
SAT- 1250
AP English 3 & 4, AP US History and Government every other class i've taken in high school has been preAP
GPA- currentlybetween 3.0-3.3 i haven't checked during this semester
Foreign Language- German I and II, only ones offered at my school
EC-
Band. 4 years, section leader 10th and 11th grades, drum major of the band senior year. Freshman year- made it to the region freshman band. Sophomore year- made it to the high school all-region and didn't advance anymore. junior year- advanced up to the area level of competition, missed all-state by one point. senior year- member of the texas all-state band. (got better every year).</p>

<p>volunteered at local hospital summer of 10th grade, and worked summer of junior year... </p>

<p>Yeah, I think you've got a very good chance. You've got decent academics, but the band stuff seals the deal.</p>

<p>However...I have heard that it is very difficult to get into UT from in-state if you are not top 10% because of the law granting automatic admission to the Top 10%...I'm not from Texas, so check with somebody who is...But this is what I've heard...</p>

<p>alright. thx for ur opinions, what range should my gpa be in? do you think playing in their concert band might give me a better chance?</p>

<p>well apparentyl some kids at my school are getting in with 3.5's and such and they play baseball, sports, and or band. so mabey you have a better chance than i thought</p>

<p>that's good to hear, hopefully my hard work in band will pay off</p>
