hello! i’m currently a senior and trying to decide what is the best option for me. I got accepted to UT Arlington with a $5,000 scholarship per year and into my desired nursing major. Yesterday I found out that I got rejected from UT and was offered the CAP Program. Wasn’t expecting to get in but a part of me was hoping i did. Anyway, I know for the CAP program I must take 30 hrs of classes and make a min of a 3.2 GPA & pre-reqs to get automatically admitted into UT but only in the College of Liberal Arts. I can try to apply to the College of Nursing but i know it would be extremely difficult. Should I take this chance or just stay at UTA for four years?? Would it be better for me to commit to UTA now and after a year see how my GPA is and then apply as a transfer to UT’s College of Nursing? I guess the only thing pulling me away for UTA is the social scene, there’s not much. but If i were to go i could rent a nice apartment in midtown that’s nearby the campus. I also have been accepted to Texas Tech, University of Houston, University of Oklahoma, Texas Woman’s, Hofstra, and Baylor University, BU would be nice for nursing but i didn’t receive any scholarships only outside scholarships adding to $3000 but i did receive $40k in financial aid.
also, i was denied for A&M but offered the BLINN Team program, don’t know much about it and would it be worth it if i want to pursue nursing major?
Go to UTA where you are guaranteed nursing.
Go to UTA nursing ! I am under impression that UTA nursing is very good. Major is more important than school ! We live in DFW, UTA nursing is very famous here !
If you know for sure nursing is going to be your major I would suggest you stick with UTA. If you get stellar grades you can always transfer to the school of your choice. Just be aware of the GPA required to transfer to the schools you are interested in.
Isn’t nursing at UTA just pre nursing where after 2 years you apply to their nursing program? So not much of a guarantee. I attended UTA for a year and talking to people it sounded like it was not uncommon for pre-nursing majors at UTA to not get into the UTA nursing program and end up at UT-Tyler or Tarelton State
