Rejected. 3.65UW 1980 SAT OOS
wait just a question. do they accept more in-state students early? or is there no difference b/w reg and early
Deferred to regular decision OOS. 4.0 UW, maxed out on my schools allowed APs, 2170 SAT, 32 ACT, decent ECs, and great essays.
Super stoked, however, cuz my first semester senior grades were all A’s, so my application can only get better when they review it again.
@TheWaffleMan149 I agree with this. My essays were probably the most impressive part of my application and i was deferred OOS. That is definitely what got me the deferral and not the rejection. Cuz my SAT and ACT scores (2170 & 32) are just about average for OOS students.
@whitespace his interview was Tuesday.12 Candidates. First round of interviews was 20 minutes with a timer, then they invited two back for a second interview and then made a decision on the spot. One candidate advanced to the finals in Charlottesville.
@emersonballer21 That’s really interesting to hear. I wrote my UVA essays in no time at all and completely rushed them. That, combined with a 3.57 GPA second semester junior year, was probably not good. I think I was probably saved by my test scores (35 & 2280). Luckily, like you, all my grades last semester were As, so nowhere to go but up.
@flyingpig11 Oh wow, thank you! I had no idea they were so fast and that they made a decision on the spot. Should be an interesting experience, I suppose.

@whitespace Was a great experience to interview and an honor to be nominated. Tough odds for sure good luck!!!
Daughter denied - kind of expected. She had everything except the high SAT (1830) - but a 4.3 GPA with honors/AP courses, lots of ECs, community service, plus she’s a great writer. OOS. It was her “super reach” school - everyone needs one of those! I have thoroughly enjoyed following this thread - lots of fun. Congrats to all accepted!
Accepted!
