UVA 2020 EA Results/Discussion Thread

@“Hopeful student” : http://uvaapplication.blogspot.com/2015/12/view-decision-status-in-sis-for-uva20.html

Admissions can seem to have no rhyme or reason to the layman so for those deferrals from EA to RD, chin up! Deferrals get accepted and to be deferred does not lessen your value or worth. I have an OOS student w/crazy stats and an enormous work ethic who was deferred and seriously never thought the RD acceptance was coming, but it did. Just signed the contract for 1 of the 47 lawn rooms offered to fourth years so keep the faith. And if not at UVa, then you will have opportunities at another great institution. Best of luck to all, but especially those deferrals waiting on pins and needles.

There are loads of great colleges and universities in this country. UVA is fantastic for some students but no school is perfect. I hope the college admissions changes recommended in the Turning the Tide report have an impact before my (as yet unborn) grandchildren start applying to college.

Thanks Dean J, makes sense. I was just thrown by me being a regular decision application and the reference of early action on the status determination.

.

If I have a green check mark and view decision on SIS, does that mean UVA has received my mid-year report? It’s still on my to do list so I just wanted to verify.

If it says to view decision on SIS, they have what they need and you should view decision.

@dowzerw Please read Dean J’s link. It contains all of the information about this issue. The view decision thing on SIS does not indicate that the decision is ready. It is a glitch. This is explained in the link in further detail.

@Leyla98 You are right. I was just giving a quick response without researching or thinking, based on the experience that my son’s said to view decision…and he got a decision (IN!). My bad.

@dowzerw No worries! I just wanted to make sure people were directed to the right information before they got all indignant and worked up about not being able to see their decision.

Congrats for your son! That must be a relief.

if we are deferred, how can we increase our chances of being admitted? I got straight A’s the first semester so i’m not sure what else I can do…

There isn’t anything else you can do Keep your fingers crossed. Many totally outstanding awesome applicants will be turned down because there are just not enough spaces. Good luck~

To boost your chances, no. Mid Years are sent. Now keep yourself occupied… go for a run, study, enjoy your friends & family. Positive thoughts!

Good Luck/Congratulations to everyone!

Was this just today, or were you accepted EA?

@kellyleong236 This is the UVA EA acceptance thread. Did you mean to post here?

My son was accepted EA and we’re waiting to receive his financial aid award letter. Has anyone received theirs yet? I talked to financial aid today because they requested his custodial parent’s irs transcript which takes about 10 days to be processed. I was told that the transcript wouldn’t hold up the tentative award letter and the counselor i spoke with said they’re doing rolling awards right now. Thanks.

@parentinwaiting I’m still waiting for my FA too. Unfortunately, I don’t think UVa will be giving much aid in comparison the other schools I’ve already been accepted to so I will most likely not attend, although I can’t say for certain until I receive the award notification.

@parentinwaiting my DS received his financial aid award by email last week. The email had him check his SIS account or whatever it’s called. It said a final copy would be mailed in mid May and is subject to change.

@tripleteens and @allthingstesla Did they request an IRS transcript from your family? It just seems like overkill when they have a copy of the taxes and everything else we submitted via idoc.

Thank you for your replies.
