@LMHLAW3 Lol. I’m a teenager currently applying to college and I don’t know what DOTL means.
If you google acronyms, you can usually figure things out. Google “UVA DOTL” or search DOTL on my blog.
Daughter just got her packet!!! YAY
@“Dean J” Do you happen to know when Rodman and Echols scholars announcements will be released?
Deferred: In-state, 4.3 W GPA, 34 composite ACT, 800 Math 2 SAT, 700 Chem SAT, 11 AP classes, Gov. School attendee, President of Liberty in North Korea Club, Secretary of She’s the First chapter, MUN, PTSA Student Rep, mission trips, etc.
OOS legacy. Both sides. Mother grad and undergrad. Father grad.
Accepted last week.
Scores were lower than middle 50% for OOS.
@savagestudent7 see my previous comment
No packet yet (NOVA). Hopefully Thursday
Well the packet from Boston takes two weeks to get to my house in CT. So I am very chill now. I think it probably will take forever from VA.
Still no packet in NOVA. Crazy!
Kja763 so sorry that you got deferred. With your stats you should get in regular decision . It would be a shame. Good luck.
Does anyone know when Echols/Rodman invites will be sent out?
My D has had UVA at the top of her list, even ahead of the Ivy’s but UNC is making a big push. I’m sure some of you have dealt with similiar issues so please offer advice if you have some. UNC made her a Carolina Scholar with a ton of money and early admission to the J School. Many of the Deans and others have written her, etc. She is attending a Scholar dinner and reception in early March and all this attention and accolades are really nice but she is so desperate to hear more from UVA. As mom, I want to be positive and helpful.
@MayBIvyMomma Is she a Jefferson Scholar? Being a Carolina Scholar at UNC is pretty major. My son is probably going to UNC, though he is awaiting RD from other schools. He got into Michigan EA as well, though got rejected by UVA. We’re OOS for all (from NY) The process is so unpredictable.
She can’t go wrong either way. Good luck!
@MayBlvyMomma what do you mean "desparate to hear more from UVA.? They won’t be giving tons of money bc besides Jefferson Scholar (ran independently from admissions), UVA does not give out merit scholarships. The Echols Scholar would be nice, but no money associated with it. So unless she loves the classes, location and feel of UVA, not sure why she would not take UNC.
no packet in NOVA still.
Same here - still waiting in NOVA.
@Matinee She was in the running for Jefferson but did not make the final cut. If both our kiddos choose UNC hopeuflly we will connect on campus. Good luck to your son and contratulations.
@LvMyKids2 She just wants more contact I think. She has had an email everyday since addmission from either a Dean of one of the schools she is interested in or the scholar programs. They have been incredibly attentive and making her feel wanted. I know each school is different. I think she is just surprised at the attention from one school vs the other. It’s leaving her conflicted but a good problem to have, I guess.
Hi guys! Does anybody know when Echols and Rodman Scholars will be announced? I know last year they came out about 9 days after the EA decisions were released. Should it be the same this year?
