Seniors: Another viewpoint from an anxious parent.
Please stop criticizing, over-analyzing, parsing and pressuring Dean J and her team to state when they will release decisions.
Providing data about how other colleges approach the process – or even trying to draw parallels about this Friday vis-a-vis the similar release dates in the past few years – does not change anything about the Readers’ workloads and their ability to plow through everyone’s application thoughtfully.
Also, if they have more early apps to review and the same number of Readers… you should be able to do the math and not “CAVALIERLY” toss off a comment such as the one earlier which basically assumed no biggie.
Believe me, I’m just as nervous as all of you and suggest you try to manage your expectations (about decision date and more importantly about what that decision turns out to be for you). Get in? Fab. Don’t? Disappointing but… there are simply too many qualified applicants for the number of seats.
If your credentials are such that you had a realistic shot at acceptance, and therefore completed the early action app, then you likely will land on your feet somewhere and excel and be happy. And if you don’t end up loving that college, do your best and try to transfer elsewhere (after giving it a decent shot) (my freshman roommate was, literally, a kleptomaniac, but that’s another story!)
Plus, on a more serious note, the orange & blue color scheme doesn’t really look good on everyone.
All of the above notwithstanding, I too hope it is today. Good luck and remember that as 17-or-so-year olds, you’ve got a LONG, EXCITING, INTERESTING life ahead and it really is true that wherever you get in or attend, you define yourself. You are “not just a test score” and you are also ultimately “not just a (fill in name of school” grad." Good luck!
