UVa's leniency with word limits

How strict are the adcoms at UVa when it comes to going over the word limit when answering one of the short answer questions?

well they say 250 words or half a page... i went with the half of a page.. way longer than 250 words.

didnt u get in harpingchic? in eD

im almost 100% sure al my essays were above the limit. i dont think it matters as long as the essay is relatively within the limit and good

nope.. i was deferred ea at yale

i meant from uva?

oh ok, aite thanks

??? yale is single-choice ea, meaning i couldn't have applied anywhere else. i'm applying to uva rd.

Be careful if you send it online. My personal essay was too long and it didn't tell me anything but I checked later and it turned out that it hadn't gotten sent. Everything worked out because they let me e-mail it and hey I got in. Lol.

hey everyone, thanks for the response, and congratulations for getting into UVa naj087. I really appreciate all the responses. Just one more question, how long is too long? I know they say about half a page or approximately 250 words, but how much more can you type before your essay is considered to be too long? 270 words? 300? etc... Aite thanks

i think i sent mine with 280 approximately

mine is 330...oh well

mine is ~270, i guess that's not too bad

wait... personal essay was too long? my personal essay was well over 500 words. like 650.. does htat mean its not going to get sent?

Yeah a few of mine were over.... whaa?!

My short answers were 50-100 over, but my long was was right on target.

Yeah my personal essay was 600+. If you sent it online just sign in and check. if its blank then you need to e-mail them pronto.

lol. my essays were like 100 words over......

As long as it fits on the page and you can see it in print preview it's fine. My essay was 680.

how do you know if its blank? you mean on the print preview pdf?
