UW Autumn 2014 Transfer Thread

Did anyone get an email asking for a UW NetID to be set up?

Yes. I got one even though I’d already set up my UW NetID before. Every applicant should have got one by now.

@candela2 How do you mean you’ve already set it up before?

I was a previous applicant (applied for Winter 2014) and I took classes at the UW as a non-matriculated student, so I already had a UW account.

So my winter term just ended and I got a 4.0 for 16 credits! So my gpa now should be 3.83 from 3.77 when i first applied. Is it a good idea to send UW another transcript with these grades or does it not matter?

@Working4UW Definitely send them your most recent transcripts!

@ellerrad9
I am applying for Mathematics. What is your intended major?

How did you find out that your file was completed?

I doubt transcripts are loading for transfer students yet if the notification period is June-July.

@seasportsdude I applied to the Health Studies major. On my MyUW front page it says “your file is now complete” and it says last updated February 6th. The major I applied to accepts apps until April 1st so I imagine I wouldn’t hear anything until at least then.

Have all of you really already received the email to create a MyUW account? I’ve been waiting and still received nothing.

@izzymyster I received my email 3/4. But you don’t need them to email you to set up the account. I set mine up a couple weeks before getting the email.

Curious if anyone has heard back from UW Bothell, and how long it took to hear back after applying?

@seasportsdude Not yet! Hang in there, we should hear back from UWB by early May. I feel for those who have to wait for Seattle. I’ve been there too and it is agonizing

So I just got winter quarter grades, and since our admission process is so long do you think it is a good idea to send an updated transcript? Are any of you planning to do this?

I was wondering the same @relacircle

I would e-mail the Admissions office first (if you’ve been contacted by one person in particular for any reason, directly e-mail them). I had the same concern last year and when I e-mailed, I was told not to send my updated transcripts. Once I was accepted, they did need the updated transcripts to see that I had completed a certain General Education course by the time of enrollment, but they did not need them to make an admissions decision.

I sent UW Bothell my updated transcripts because the class I took is a prerequisite to the program I applied for, and also because I got a 3.6 in the class, which brings up my GPA. I had thought it was a requirement actually. I don’t know why you wouldn’t.

Something interesting happened today, I got an email from the UW police department about something which must have occurred at UW. It was addressed to “faculty, staff, and Seattle campus students”. Could this be a potential (very early) sign of getting in? Or did all applicants receive this message? It was sent today 4/13.

@relacircle I got this as well. I think this is just assigned to pretty much everyone. Since all students have a MyUW, which is the primary notification system, everyone with a MyUW got the mass notification.

@potatomawnster‌ Yeah, that’s what I figured. Wishful thinking, ya know? The wait is tortuous.
