UW Autumn 2014 Transfer Thread

@Working4UW‌, I marked on my application that I didn’t expect to get an AA. UW is mostly concerned that you’ve completed major prerequisites and other general requirements. It doesn’t care whether you get an AA or not.

Hi everyone, I’m new to the thread so I’ll post a bit about my situation.

I’m a first year that applied as a UW transfer for fall… First quarter I was at Cal Poly SLO and transferred back and have been at BC in Washington since. I really don’t have that many credits, certainly not 90, and am really worried about that being a good sign of me getting automatically rejected…

I applied as a freshman last year and was wait listed, if that is useful information of any sort.

Does anyone have any comments or similar situations?

@onrafber, Unfortunately the number of credits you have is a very important factor in the admissions decision. So it is quite likely that you will be rejected on that basis alone. However, the good news is, if you are rejected, it is likely that all you need to do is continue to work on the UW degree requirements at BC, in order to be accepted next year.

@candela2 okay ): thanks for the input. I was recently accepted to University of Puget Sound as a transfer for fall 2014 and receive $14,000 a year scholarship money, and that made a lot of people think that I’d surely get into UW with such a positive response from another school. I guess UW is much more selective and populated though…

@onrafber‌, I’m in a similar situation. I’m a freshman applying form an out-of-state 4 year college. I only had a 3.4 GPA in high school, but have a 4.0 in college and will have ~100 quarter credits of classes to transfer by the time autumn rolls around. Good luck!

@metapuff How did you accumulate so many credits so fast?

@onrafber‌ I had 40 semester-credits worth of AP/IB tests from high school, took 18 semester-credits worth of classes for both fall and spring semesters this year, and will be taking 10 semester-credits this summer. 50 of those credits are in physics and math, which are what I want to major in, and the rest is general ed stuff. Hope it helps me! I feel nervous about my chances with only one year of college under my belt, especially coming from a 4-year school.

I got the large white envelope today, with all the enrollment information, etc. I have to notify UW and pay the fee by May 9th. This probably means Batch #2 will go out on the 10th.

I think pp with just a general admission got notifications for first batch!! How do you guys think??

Reading about how some of you got in today literally made my heart drop, now I’m even more anxious and nervous! Congrats to all those who got in, you deserve it. My unofficial transcript still hasn’t loaded, when do you guys think the next batches will come in?

For those of you who have been accepted or have had your unofficial transcript load, did your application status change?
Mine still says " All materials required to review your application to the UW Bothell have been received and your file is now complete. Your application is in the review process, and will remain in this status until decisions become available. When a decision is made, you will be notified via postal mail."

Will this status change at all or will it be this message until I get my letter?

@ellerrad9, my application status just changed today, from the ‘review process’ message to “Congratulations”. But this happened several days after I got my letter in the mail, and a week after my unofficial transcript changed.

to the people who have been accepted, do you mind sharing your stats with us

I’m still waiting to hear back and idk about any of you but hearing about others lessens the anxiety a little bit

Thanks and congrats to everyone

Where do you find the unofficial transcript??

@skays17 MyUW > Admissions tab on left side > Unofficial UW transcript on lower right

@potatomawnster‌ thanks, you rock (:

@ If you are a fall transfer, did your transcript load yet? Mine hasn’t. :(

@potatomawnster‌ I am, but it hasn’t loaded yet  seeing that other people have already started getting their letters makes me nervous.

@skays17 While it sucks, the notification period is from now all the way through July. Like always for transfers, these notifications load in batches, so there is still plenty of time for results. The first batch recently loaded last week; there are plenty more batches left (about 4 or 5 more).

One of the accepted student anticipated that the second batches will arrive on May 9th or little bit later since their fees are due on May 9th. Fingers crossed everyone…
