UW Autumn 2018 Transfer Discussion (University of Washington)

If you could find that reddit post I’d love to read it @transfer3018 I’m really anxious about it, I’m super hopeful that some will come out in April and if so I want to be in that first wave of notifications!

I feel like i won’t find out until july though… i read the thread and i think students trying to go in the summer as non degree seeking students are the only ones who find out in april. the rest find out in june + july on a random basis

@transfer3018 For some reason the link doesn’t work! I’ll try searching for it. Thank you!

Nevermind couldn’t find it searching either. Maybe the user deleted the thread?

  1. Earliest notifications come out May, but absolute most are June to mid july.
  2. UW does not require updated transcripts and if i’m not mistaken actually don’t recommend it

@transfer3018 I edited the url you sent me and I finally found the thread!
@golddawgs Did you just ask admissions that?

I picked up a Guide for Transfer Students book UW was giving out when they visited my cc. On page 17 it says the notification period is May-July.

@julietjuju3 Sorry. I should’ve mentioned that. Glad you found it!

And I asked the same thing as @golddawgs did. Decisions come out from May to July. But they can’t give us a specific date.

They said they might not consider the updated ones. They told me to send the updated transcript if they ask for it.

The admissions office is really helpful. You can call them and confirm again.

I called the admissions office because I’m no longer applying to Foster because I didn’t complete a prerequisite class. So I need to change my major for UW application

If you want to change your major should you email admissions now or wait until you talk to an advisor about changing it or possibly double majoring?

By the way I’m thinking of changing it from Sociology to Psychology, but my CC doesn’t offer two of the classes needed for the Psychology major so from what I got from the website is I think it would be best to wait until I talk to an advisor, but I’d love to know if anyone else changed their major without consulting an advisor?

They told me to write ‘why the major change’ the in the personal statement but it was submitted long back. So the admissions office told me to write it in the email where I ask them for the major change. So that they can have the communication on file.

@julietjuju3 If you double major will you still do the current major? But if you’re sure you don’t want to do your current major at all, then you should email the admissions

You could explain to them that your cc doesn’t offer them. It’s not like you chose not to take them. I read on the website that they consider that the cc doesn’t offer all classes. I would say email an advisor right now. They respond really quick. I would say you’ll have your reply by the end of the day.

@transfer3018 Thank you, I’ll email an advisor for more guidance because I’m kind of torn on if the current major I chose is best or if my credits would better apply elsewhere.

Honestly, I am a bit sad that I can’t submit my new grades. I had a B previous quarter and now I had all A’s which brought it up to 3.84.

update: so my unofficial transcript loaded for uw-tacoma but my major says, “pre-science”; probably because the last courses i have to take for my prereqs is this quarter. i already applied to my department at uw-tacoma & they said they will review my information & get back to me only after my final grades are posted. i am not really worried about getting in though because i know a lot of people who have gotten in and have worse stats than me…

it’s really funny because uw-tacoma has more prereqs for computer engineering than uw-seattle but uw-seattle is better lol

@cercit20 Congratulations! Good luck for you major.

And I love the unofficial transcript trick. It gives you your decision before the email or the status update

@transfer3018 thank you! i still really want to go to the main branch though… it’s the best lol & yeah same

MAJOR UPDATE: (do NOT get your hopes up)
I am currently at Transfer Thursday at UW. Because I have a unique situation, I discussed the notification period. The admission’s officer I spoke with said it is definitely May-July and July-August is really just for engineering and business majors. They are also HOPING to start giving decisions in April, but it will only be 100-500 students IF they do that. So again, just an update but ABSOLUTELY DO NOT COUNT ON IT. The admissions officer himself said that he’s not even sure that’s actually happening. But you can definitely count on May-July, with the bulk of them in June.

Also, they somewhat touched on updated transcripts. You will only send them as your FINAL transcript after graduating from whatever college you do, if you are transferring after earning your AA. I don’t totally remember what they said about requiring updated, but they said again DO NOT send them unless requested.

@golddawgs thanks for the update lol so long ah
