UW-Madison or WUSTL?

I've been accepted into the liberal arts college at both UW and Washington U in St Louis.
Undecided on which major suits me; I'm thinking a minor in spanish and/or portuguese including a semester abroad and a major in either business or science at this point. (VERY much up in the air)

I know Wash U is considered more prestigious, but I'm looking for a great education and a great social experience.
Pros and Cons or any personal insights would be awesome!

Don’t know about WUSTL, but Madison is one of the most well-rounded universities. Sports Illustrated rated it the #1 college sports town, US News ranked it in the top 40 overall universities and I believe in the top 5 or 10 public universities. It also hosts the craziest halloween party on State St called Freakfest. It is a large school, but if you got into WUSTL I would assume you can also get into the honors program, which will help you get research experience–it is also a 5 top research school–and smaller classes as a freshman

Wisconsin is an excellent - and underrated - school. It has a lot in common with the University of Michigan, both academically and otherwise. Like Ann Arbor, Madison is one of America’s great college towns. I think it is a terrific choice for almost any undergraduate major.

Hmm, these schools are very different… I would personally go with Wash U but I am sure many would rather go to UW-Madison. I like smaller schools and am pre med so Wash U works for me.

Madison also has a top 15 business school if you are interested in business

^^ So does WashU.

Thanks guys!
anyone know what student life is like at Wash U? I’m from Madison area so I’m pretty familiar with how nice it is to live there =P

You have to get excited about D-3 woman’s basketball. ;-)

So you are in-state at Wisconsin. What is the difference in cost-of-attendance, and would that be a consideration for you?

All costs aside, which college would be a better experience for an undecided undergrad?

^^ it depends on what you’re lookin for. But WashU has a much higher quality of life and I dont think anyone can label it as a party school. Wisconsin is in the Big Ten with great academic. Sports and drinking are huge there. But the overall student body are not as strong as WashU’s.

Wash u is Greekie and UW is not. UW has a katrillion more highly ranked depts. WU higher quality of life? I don’t see it.
