Hope it helped! :)

PS : The author of the post was the sole Davis Scholar to UWCSEA(in 2010 or 11. I believe)

Thanks so much!

How’s the Indian selection process going?

can I write my essays more 150 words?

a UWCer in Hong Kong said we could write (150 words + 15% =) 165 words. Is that true?

@Rainy City : We’ve got our interviews from April 6th-April 8th.

@Above : From which UWC committee are you applyong from? Online or offline? Because in the Indian app, we had to write all our essays in limited space so, the word-limit pretty much depended on how much we could squeeze into those lines.

How is everyone doing? We are eagerly waiting for the U.S. notifications - less than 3 weeks to go! Has anyone gotten good news in other countries? How did your interviews go?

I’m applying from Vietnam commitee :). We must write our essays of not more than 150 words, but I can’t show all my ideals with 150 words. I always write about 160 - 165 words and can’t make them conciser… This limitation makes me feel annoyed… If I write more than 150 words, will I be reject?

@rinkaki Simply No, you won’t get rejected. Is it a paper application? Than you ll be fine! Is it online? Than watch out it won’t be cut! But dont make it any longer, people like a quick read. Just try to use less words: its better to concentrate on. Some of your ideals like 1, 2 or 3 instead of a lot of information

Thank Vitus…it is a paper app… :slight_smile: … April 13 2012 is deadline… :)

Good luck!

Apollo, my interview is on this saturday. How’d your son’s interview go? I heard there’s some sort of information session for parents in the beginning. Also, when are notifications about the decisions coming for the US?

He said it went well, but who knows? The parent meeting was very short. If I hadn’t done so much research before his sister interviewed, I think I would have been skeptical about the whole thing. It is something of a leap of faith for parents to send their kids off somewhere they have never seen and trust that their kids will have a good experience. The parents have to be almost as adventuresome as the kids. Good luck! At least you won’t have as long to wait after your interview. U.S. candidates are supposed to hear back by April 25. I know they have until April 30 to commit.

Hi. I’m from SE Asia! And I’ve just been accepted by my national UWC National Committee for a place at one of the UWCs! The process was grueling: an exceptionally long application, a preliminary interview then a group interview. I have a meeting soon with the committee where I’ll find out the terms of my offer. The offer is provisional, so at the meeting, my parents and I will decide whether to accept the offer or to decline.

I don’t know where I’ll be sent to nor do I know the size of the scholarship. I’m hoping for the best! Apparently, due to budget and funding constraints, the national committee only has places at a select few UWCs this year. I’m hoping to be offered a place at either Atlantic or the US. And, due to family, logistical and other considerations, will most likely only accept an offer at either these two colleges. Does anyone have any practical information on these two colleges before I make a firm decision to accept or decline the UWC offer at the formal offer meeting? Anything would help, e.g. the surroundings, environment, students, teachers, living accommodations etc. I’m very excited at the prospect of going but am already a scholar at one of the best schools in my country. I want to be sure I’m making the right choice… :)
