UWC Applicants for the 2013 school year!

@lunascreatures: Ick. I hate it when people mispronounce my name (and it happens aaaaaall the time). “No, people, Guinevere is not my name. I don’t know any Lancelots or Arthurs, thank you. Nor is Geneva. That is a city.” I’ve had so many variations, I could write my own baby book.

@lindzmm thank you so much!

@knoxandonyx yeah, I had a substitute teacher actually give me a cookie (an actual real literal cookie) once because he had mispronounced my name so many times. I have a lot of friends who have Chinese names in the attendance book but go by something else (americanized), and they have a much worse time than me, so I don’t mind too much. But it’s still really annoying :P

Are you guys waiting for messages saying whether you got an interview, or final admission? Are we even in the same time-zone? I’m assuming no.

I don’t think a substitute has ever mispronounced my name… I guess it’s a blessing

I’m in California so it’s 7:39 pm. I’m expecting to get an email while at school tomorrow… but I hope I don’t

@lunascreatures: I mean, really. How hard is it to pronounce “Natalia”? Not at all.
Also, aside from John Green, Kristin Cashore may be my favorite author of YA …

And on the subject of names, one of the names my parents considered for me was Adele, which would have been pretty hilarious today … :)

@garyoak Interview, and it’s likely that it won’t come out for a few days. But we can hope! I’m going to be a nervous wreck tomorrow. At least weather.com actually has 100% chance of snow on Thursday, so no school!

Central Time Zone. 9:40. Tomorrow during school … Agh, the agony! ;)

@knoxandonyx
so, since John Green tops your list, I’m assuming you know about the TFIOS MOVIE OMG OMG OMG
If not - they have a script and a director and are casting right now. It’s really happening, unlike with Paper Towns and LfA where the rights were bought and nothing happened.

Eastern Time Zone. It’s almost 10:45 and i have a field trip tomorrow so i won’t be able to check my email until almost 4pm -_-

@lunascreatures: Yeah … I kind of watch every video on John Green’s blog since I went searching for it a few months ago. I’ve been reading his books for a few years, and then found his and Hank’s awesome videos, and … yeah.

But I’m super afraid they’ll screw it up, and then I’ll be left with a bad taste in my mouth…

@knoxandonyx @lunascreatures Did you hear who they’re thinking of for Augustus? Austin Butler. I will commit homicide if they cast Austin Butler as Augustus. Homicide!

@mirvinvitela: Never heard of him. Just looked him up. I will be your accomplice. In fact, I may insist on doing the deed for you.

Hear me now, casting-people: HE IS NOT AUGUSTUS. HE WILL NEVER BE AUGUSTUS.

Good. We can premeditate it and everything. He’s an awful actor, he’s in a bunch of Disney stuff I’m forced to watch while babysitting. They need someone who is absolutely perfect. Not sure how they’ll manage that, but they will. Who are you hoping for for Hazel?

I have no idea who I want for Augustus. No idea whatsoever! I like a lot of the people being suggested for Hazel, so I can’t decide.
@knoxandonyx yeah, I actually watched their videos first and then started reading. I’ve been watching for three years now, I think? Nerdfighteria is fantastic and amazing and I love all that has come out of it.
(Also I have John’s signature thrice, Hank’s once, have shook hands with John, and have hugged, gotten a photo with, and DID THE TIME WARP with Hank. LeakyCon is an amazing thing.)

WHAT. YOU MET JOHN GREEN?? aklsdf;

Yes. I was walking with a friend of mine who wasn’t really a nerdfighter, and saw him, and mildly freaked out and she RUNS over to him and asks him for a photo with me (not knowing about his social anxiety XD) and he politely refused but shook my hand and such. And then I confused him by trying to do a handshake that Harry and the Potters (they are a band, if you don’t know) were spreading throughout the conference, but he had apparently not seen yet. whoops.

@lunacreatures: Jealous!!!

Anyways, all this is exactly why I’m afraid of a movie. Because they will screw it up. The actors will never be the characters I picture. Because that’s the thing: I don’t picture actors as characters. I picture characters as characters. As people, not glitzed up Hollywood minions.

I honestly don’t know who I want to play Hazel or Augustus. Maybe just people. Breakthrough people like Jennifer Lawrence was in Winter’s Bone. Really good, but never really discovered before that point.

Example of sad casting: Finnick Odair, Catching Fire. I have nothing to dislike Sam Clarfin (I think that’s his name) for (until I know whether or not he has any acting chops) but he is not who I pictured, the closest of which can be described as Jesse Williams. Look him up. :)

@knoxandonyx I don’t really picture people visually (ever. not in books, not on the internet…I just don’t “picture” things beyond space-filling people-ish shaped blobs), so I’m not too concerned with how the actor looks. I do get annoyed when the feel of the character is wrong in an actor. Evanna Lynch and Helena Bonham Carter were much better than Daniel Radcliffe and Rupert Grint, in that respect. And Richard Harris was better than Michael Gambon.
