We live in Florida so my daughter will have to fly home for breaks. I wanted to know what time classes are over the day before Thanksgiving break? Do they have all their classes that day and do students skip to start vacation early?
It really depends on each professor. I wouldn’t book any flight until your daughter starts her classes and has syllabus for each class. I have 2 kids who went to Cornell. Some years, they could come home the Fri before Thanksgiving, but other years they had to stay because of a test or paper. Some professors get very upset when students leave early, some do not. There are professors who care about attendance, but will allow few missed class, so your daughter should use that wisely. You can check Cornell’s academic calendar to see when school is officially closed for each break.
Well I booked a flight last week for my D to come home for Thanksgiving. Leaving late Tuesday night out of Ithaca airport to Chicago via Detroit. Only three seats were left so I pulled the trigger. I’m assuming there will be no class conflicts and the airport is just a 10 minutes away. If she can leave earlier, well I guess that’s the way it goes.
