Vanderbilt Class of 2015 EDII

^^ sorry bro, but this

made me mad.

A 3.2 UW GPA? That takes my spot? Sorry if that offends you, but that’s ridiculous.

With that attitude, no wonder you got rejected.

Wow.

@touhou: Who cares if he had a 3.2 UW GPA? Maybe his essays / teachers recs were better than yours. Did you ever think about that?
It’s called “holistic admissions” for a reason. I’m sorry you got rejected, but no one’s taking your spot and it’s really ignorant of you to think so.

With that being said… congrats so far ED2 (:

yeah woeishe, i assumed that was it after i made my post

ipss poor attitude aside, i am legitimately surprised if a real top 50 player doesn’t get in and/or recruited. at the very least vandy would have admitted with the intention of letting him walk on. keep in mind 2 of the 6 people who signed national letters of intent were between 50 and 100 (granted they have the potential to be top 40) and vanderbilt’s tennis recruiting class was ranked #1 in the nation. i couldn’t find a kentucky player in the top 100, so i assume you must have meant top 50 in the 12’s or 14’s only?

tough break for touhou, but a real top 50 18’s tennis player in normal circumstances would absolutely get preference over a ymca national qualifier, particularly when you take into account tennis is a varsity sport

Aside from all the bickering, I am here in Southern California STILL waiting for my decision…i wish they posted online instead!

notice though, the swimmer wasn’t recruited.
Neither was Touhou though?

It’s just a lucky break sometimes, and it sucks, but trust me, you can go somewhere just as good–if not better–with your stats.

Again, grats to everyone so far!

D got RD acceptance w/ Mosaic invite.

Strengths: Decent score on standardized testing
Weaknesses: Not too much extracurriculars

From the acceptances on here so far, I’ve noticed they really didn’t go stats hardcore. Not that any of you have bad stats, just not as good as I’ve seen on other acceptances to other similar schools. Those who haven’t gotten theirs yet can have hope!! Oh and by the way, some of my grades were pretty bad… I’m actually really surprised I got in.

BTW: I didn’t get a MOSAIC invite either.
PS: The matriculation fee is FOUR HUNDRED DOLLARS!? Holy cow… mildly above average I would have to say although it’s probably pocket change for a lot of you guys T_T

Decision: Accepted

GPA ~3.5 unweighted
SAT I: 2190 (1520) 740 reading 780 math 670 writing

Job/Work Experience: Tutored a 6th grader in math (forget if I mentioned that on app)
Volunteer/Community service: Nothing long term, reffed FLL a couple times, “odd jobs” here and there
EC short answer (subject and personal opinions on it): Wrote about robotics, thought it was awful because i had to take out half of it to fit the word limit.

General Essay (subject and personal opinions on it): Wrote about Fight Club (i know right?) and how it made me realize I couldn’t live life on autopilot (threw in some cheeky humor about how I could have written an essay about Camus’ The Stranger or Hamlet). Reflection
Strengths: Well rounded, humor/dark humor, leadership in international program (FIRST), SAT score
Weaknesses: grades in general, they were really all over the place.

Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected:
Because I put a lot of effort into writing an essay that was on a pop-culture movie (fight club) rather than about a literary work or a life changing experience I had (despite parents’ protesting). And, because I’m about the learning not the grades.

Honestly I have no idea why, I was fully expecting that letter to say “rejected”.

Lol, @woeishe

lolumadbro?

and @ paupowpew: sick stats, man. Just a question, any reason you didn’t apply to ivy’s with those stats rather than Vandy?
