Agh I still haven’t received my letter… has anyone else not received a decision yet?

Sorry, Striving4eva, if it’s not perfect, it’s not meant to be. It’s hard, but there’s somewhere for everyone, and if Vandy’s not for you, there’s somewhere much better for you :)

I was rejected from my first choice school, but saw that Vandy is actually a much better fit than i could have hoped for at my original “dream” school.

You’ll be happy, i promise you :)

Jmeseses - Mind my asking what was your top school?

I applied to WUSTL for Biomedical Engineering.

Wow - that’s D’s first choice, too…she won’t call it that, though, fear of jinx! She’s quite excited about Vandy, tho, as it’s right up there…know that she’ll be fine wherever she ends up Hope WUSTL sends out notifications early again this year so she can relax during spring break.

What’s she planning on majoring in?
I’ll say that she probably has a much better chance than me there. (Although i do have some suspicions that part of the reason that i didn’t get in was on my counselor sending forms in late)

She’s planning on majoring in english - pre-law…Saw you are from outside Chicago - Stevenson?

Naperville Central, D from Stevenson?
Oh, then she’ll definitely have a way better shot than I did at WashU.
No worries, its just a crazy year for admissions :(

Used to live in NW burbs…I feel like everything is a crapshoot! Funny thing is I got rejected from vandy way back in the day, so fun she got in :)

Jmeneses: Thanks bro, but you’re stats are probably better than mine. Your GPA rapes mine. My UW was way too low. In addition, I did apply to Harvard, but that was a super reach. I actually did ED at Wash U, EA at Chicago, and EA at Stanford, and got deferred from all three. Since they actually admit like 1% of the deferrals (hyperbole) I was like what the heck might as well apply to Vandy cause its premed is decent ya know? But hey if you’re looking for a roommate, I’d be willing to room with you! I’m Asian too! Except I’m full Asian… ;)

ppp - Since Vandy is binding, do you have to take yourself off waitlist at those 3 schools?

still nothing alihaq? you can call tomorrow if you still haven’t heard yet

Reflection

Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected: i am not really sure. i honestly think that an asian wanting to go into elementary education is not very common, so that might have helped. but i also think that the admissions process is REALLY random. i honestly did not think i was going to get in, but it really is just the luck of the draw sometimes.

i was rejected from Dartmouth, which was originally my first choice, so i know that it really, really stinks when you receive a rejection letter. but, i am also a firm believer that everything really does happen for a reason and that we will all end up where we are really supposed to be. the admissions process is sometimes so random!!

good luck to everyone and congratulations to those who were accepted!!

@Paupowpew:
Sent you a PM. Feel free to add me on Facebook, and we can mutual creep… xD

Yeah wanderers… still nothing. I’m probably going to call during school tomorrow.

Wow… I called and they told me I wouldn’t be able to receive my decision over the phone until Tuesday??? I guess the blog was incorrect. Hopefully my decision will be in the mail today though.

alihaq717,

That stinks. Did you talk to your counselor or an administrative type person? If you didn’t speak with your counselor, do you have the email address of your admissions counselor? If not, it should be on the website. I’m sure they won’t give you an answer through email but the admissions counselor may be able to make arrangements to call you or have you call in. Kylie did say starting on the 18th on the blog. Also, if you get a chance before the end of the day try to get with your guidance counselor at school. It is quite possible that he/she knows the decision. Good luck!

how did they respond when you mentioned the blog stated the 18th?

They were like “oh, really?” and then they tried to make it better by saying that they would let me know on Monday instead of Tuesday, but they might be kidding about that. I’m not exactly sure… I’m considering calling tomorrow (are they open?) but I don’t want them to get mad at me. Maybe it will come in the mail? And I like the counselor idea runningmom!

Rejected. I only had a 29 ACT and I’m white but I was hoping the fact that I raised over $20,000 for a hospital through a fundraiser I started at my school would make up for that. Guess not. Oh well.
