rw2013, sorry to disappoint on the letter info. I can probably give you some encouragement as to the timing though. If past trends play out for this cycle, the letters will likely go out a little early. Admissions like to mail by Wednesday or Thursday so that letters are in the mail and they are away from the office over the weekend as panic starts to set in for those who haven’t received a letter after 2-3 days. Even though they tell people that decisions won’t be released by phone, people still make desperate phone calls and staff have to explain patiently that phone decisions aren’t yet available. For example, in youngest child’s case in 2004 (when ED application numbers were fewer and the ED admit rate was close to 50% a year), the mailing went out on a Tuesday afternoon. One of D’s classmates got his acceptance on Thursday, but her letter didn’t arrive until Friday. We only live 2 hours from Nashville, so you would have expected better postal service, right? With so many letters in the mail, some of you will have to wait longer than what you think is reasonable. This continued to be true over the next few years (one of my VU students worked in OUA as an undergrad).
Sending good wishes for all ED applicants and their parents - I remember how stressful it was. Good luck!

@2VU- that is actually very encouraging! I was hoping that something like that would happen, because it’s horrible timing that the 15th is a Saturday. I took off of work for it because if I don’t get in, I want to be alone to feel sorry for myself for a day, and if I get in, I want to be able to celebrate! Haha, so I don’t want to have to wait until the weekend is over and I’m back in school to hear. I’m just hoping that the US postal service will be quick and efficient and we get them as soon as we can. I’m too ready for this wait to be DONE.

@ojsenga- if a candidate doesn’t get in during the first ED round, he or she cannot apply again to the university through ED2 or RD. They would have to apply as a transfer.

Yeah seriously plus I have finals starting on the 17th (which I’m sure we all do) so I don’t want to have to be studying for finals and anxiously waiting for this letter. So much anxiety at once.

Fellow male 32 ACTer over here. There seems to be a few of those in this thread. Looking at last year’s thread scares the crap out of me. It seems like us 32ers are truly on the fence!

Has anyone seen any ED stats for specific schools? (Arts and Sciences- ED, Peabody ED, etc…)

I think what a majority of us forget is how vital the essay is. I’ve visited 7ish schools, and they all talk about how your essay can be the thing that really sets your app apart. I mean we all have the killer grades, the good scores on standardized tests, and the extracurriculars, but who knows how good our essays are in comparison to each other. I mean, it certainly counts for something. I’m no admissions counselor, so I can’t say for sure, but I would like to think that our essays are the crux of our applications. why? well my essay was by far the best part of my app. lolz.

This wait is honestly going to kill me. 11 more days! while we wait, if anyone feels like looking, here’s my stats…
