Vanderbilt Transfer Thread [Fall 2017]

Yes, as long as you inform the school you put an initial deposit down at that you won’t be attending, it’s fine to deposit to another school after. This happens a lot with transfer students I feel, especially because of the scattered decision dates of schools.

Is there a Facebook group for accepted students, or is it just the normal 2020 page (incoming sophomore)?

@Sarangatang There is a facebook group for 2017 Vanderbilt Transfers. The link is in your portal

sweet thanks !

Anyone visiting the school Friday by chance?

@mjr2013 Thanks, that makes sense. It is because of scattered decision dates, I’m still waiting to hear back from Cornell University and that might go well into May after the May 2nd deadline of Vanderbilt. If I don’t get in there than I’m definitely going into Vandy (but if I get into both its gonna be a hard decision).

@Mastodon97 I think this whole idea of being frowned upon is ridiculous… I think its redicilious you have to pay a $400 fee because you havnt received other cooleges decisions. Like c’mon, if anything the colleges are the bad guys in this situation. I am facing similar prospects but the school I’m waiting on is Georgetown.

I don’t think there’s really an issue with going back on your deposit as a transfer. They have no standardized dates or ED, so it’s a very different process than for freshmen. Plus, the yield calculations are totally different since most of these schools are taking, at most, a few hundred transfers.

accepted!

did you just receive your decision? or is it from yesterday? @capo1998

Do you guys know if students are required to live on campus all 4 years?

Yes it is but you can apply to live off campus. They have been granting that more lately bc they just tore down a dorm i think to build a new one

the email went to my junk. i only thought to check because i looked at the forum and saw people posting decisions.

New dorm with capacity of 340 upperclassmen will be ready in 2018 though ^^.

don’t forget to post in the decision thread :)!

Junior and senior students are eligible for off-campus residence. Also, if you are married, you can also live off-campus

@Mastodon97 I’m having the same problem where most of my decisions will be after May 2nd. Why do you want to pay for the deposit instead of just ask for an extention?

@VaishS Because I actually wouldn’t even have to pay the deposit, it said that they will waive it since Im receiving the Pell Grant.

@Mastodon97 You will want to be careful with that. I’ve heard some colleges will waive it upon request, but should you not attend, you will be billed for the deposit amount. Not sure if that is the case at Vandy, but something to keep in mind.

Crossing my fingers so more of us can join the crew tomorrow!

Funny how the days seem longer than they used to. Just a couple of weeks ago, the weeks would fly by as if they were days. Now every day seems like a week.
