@VaishS I was trying to be honest. UNC is an amazing school, but those other three are on a different level, particularly Vandy and Cornell.
Anyone applied to more than 10 schools? I did 10
Why so many!?! Casting a large large net? I really only want to go to Vandy or UW so even though I could have applied to more just to try to increase my chances of getting accepted, i didn’t because i’m happy with my choices i guess. (except i did apply to NU mainly to see if i got in but i wouldn’t hate it either. but i would rather go to UW for their microbiology program)
@SunZhaoyu I know I have seen people who have. God bless you guys. If I did that many essays my hand would fall off
@SunZhaoyu I applied to 7. I wanted to leave NYU so bad, but it is unlikely I will get in anywhere.
Only applied to 2 schools.
Vandy (#1 Choice)
Notre Dame
@somehmonggirl Are you from Milwaukee? I go to Marquette.
ahem positivity -_-
@somehmonggirl its make a big difference where your coming from. I’m like you and had an in state backup, but I definitely would have cast a larger net If I didn’t have backup like me and you have
@somehmonggirl
Well my current school does not have the major I want (East Asian studies) so I applied to all the schools that have a decent EAS program
@somehmonggirl I think they have a lot of similar things working for them - high research activity, in/near major city, beautiful campuses, school spirit, similar # undergrads, athletics and Greek life if you’re into those. Of course, inside Nashville across from a major medical center and in Evanston are pretty different.
@ilr2020
What is your expected major?
My backup is my current school. 100% chance of “admission”
@HopefullyIGetIn I only applied to 5, but Rice had 4 supplements and Tufts had 3.
-_-
At least a few of them could be modified and applied to multiple, and one of the Tufts supplements was a very pared-down, modified version of my first-year common app essay (also probably my strongest essay by a long stretch).
@SunZhaoyu Economics and Public Policy
@sgallagher23 Yes I am! Cool, Marquette harasses me with stuff begging me to transfer there like… a lot. but i would never be able to afford it lol! How do you like Milwaukee?( between you and me i hate it there mostly)
@sgallagher23 I feel like there are a lot of cross-admits to Vandy and ND, which is surprising given their totally different environments and the big Jesuit difference.
@usualhopeful i guess the vibes are just what i feel are so very different. student life and whatnot. vandy seems a lot more fun and laid back
@usualhopeful yes its really quality>quantiy. UNC had 2 supps that I nocked out easy. Georgetown had one, “why Georgetown” essay which took sooo long to write. I still think the “why college” essays are nonsense. Like why do I want to go to your university? cause its prestigious, in DC and I can get mad internships. Like all this “I fit in stuff” I think is nonsense. But I played the part nonetheless
@HopefullyIGetIn it’s even harder for CC students. Like… why do you want to transfer? BECAUSE I HAVE TO TO FINISH MY DEGREE, DUH
I don’t have good EC’s because I really hate my current school and just couldn’t bring myself to get involved at a place I didn’t want to be. I also work 2 jobs and take care of a sick uncle. Is there any way I could address that? I included these on the common app but since I applied my uncle has been taking up more of my time. Any ideas?
