Vanderbilt University Fall 2011 Transfer Thread

Here’s some inside info from the Vandy transfer admissions staff, enjoy:

Admissions are made on a rolling basis, with the first set of letters being mailed out on the 18th.

Targeted enrollment is going to be around 200 (note: this is different from the amount of students accepted, which is higher)

Last year 11 international students were accepted, more are going to be accepted this year, not sure what number exactly.

Source: Im a student here.

is enrollment different than acceptance?

Does the enrollment number mean that Vandy will accept 3-400 students and hope that 50-75% of them actually enroll?

yeah enrollment is how many people choose to enroll in vandy of those accepted. so if their target enrollment is 200, they will accept more than that (maybe accept 300) so that about 200 of those 300 will enroll.

Last year they accepted 376 and 208 enrolled so expect a similar amount to be accepted. However, there will more than likely be an increase in applicants meaning our chances are lower.

@Bakedlays - How does Vandy determine who’s in the first batch? Does it depend on when one applied? For instance, I applied in January. Will I be in the first batch? Thanks.

i hope those who submitted their apps first hear first!

I called the Admissions Office today and they said that my application had not yet been reviewed so I’m guessing that means I’m not in the first batch–I submitted my application March 1st (priority). Don’t know if that helps, but just wanted to give an update to anyone who applied around then.

did you speak with your counselor or just with whoever at the admissions office?

I did not speak to my counselor, I just spoke to someone in the office who looked me up (there was a problem sending my MT report a couple weeks ago so I re-sent it last week and wanted to check if they got it and if it could still be considered with a decision…she said they received it and a decision had not yet been made)

did we need to send midterm reports? because it doesnt say so on the website, i didnt send one and they said my app is complete.

@transfer11323 - was it easy to ask the admissions people? i’m deciding between emailing my counselor or calling the admissions office.

And sarah, I didn’t submit a midterm report either. My counselor said it wasn’t necessary.

^Mid-term reports are optional.

ive only spoke to my counselor once and she seemed kind of annoyed so now im scared to email her haha. i think i might just call admissions tomorrow.

@sarahjojojo - Mid-term reports weren’t required

@Logan2011 - Yeah it was really easy to call down, they were nice about looking up my info

I emailed my counselor again, just confirming that a decision was made. I hope he isn’t annoyed. I just don’t get why they would made a decision on mine almost two weeks before the first batch goes out… ah. Aggravated.

im going to call tomorrow and ask

^Likewise.

I’ll probably do the same tomorrow. Even if I’m not in the first batch it’d be nice to know so that my mind could can be at ease for the next week or so.

yeah im just still so confused after the last time i called and one lady said she saw my decision and would connect me with my counselor to tell me then my counselor told me transfers dont here until may…
