Hey me too sort of I’m a quarter Syrian! My great grandpa immigrated to the US via Ellis Island. He comes from a big Greek Orthodox family haha.

Help me out here.

Who will be the first person you call/text when you find out?

Have you told your friends from the university you’re currently attending that you’ve applied to transfer?

Do any of y’all have significant others at your current school? How are y’all handling it?

My best friend and my brother who is a Vandy grad!

Have only told a couple of my friends… I won’t tell them I even applied if I don’t get in. :/

I have a boyfriend here who will be very missed. he’s very supportive of my decision to transfer though. A great guy. :)

Any of y’all want to chime in?

My mom will definitely be the person I call first, good news or bad.

I have told my friends because I know that I am transferring no matter what.

I have a boyfriend here as well who is also extremely supportive so we will figure it out wherever I end up going.

These questions are a good distraction for us!

Same as Sarah, my mom will definitely be the first one I tell.

I go to a CC so pretty much everyone knows everyone is transferring somewhere, so it’s not that shocking or surprising.

I do have a girlfriend but she’s already at a different school on the other side of the country so it won’t be an issue.

I agree these are some good distractions to have during this stressful time

1) I’ll probably tell my best friend who goes to Belmont. Then the parents most likely.

2) I’ve told my good friends that I might transfer.

3) it’s going to be very difficult leaving my girlfriend but she’s very understanding and she realizes the opportunity I might have. I really haven’t thought about how hard it’s going to be to leave her but things will work if it’s meant to be.

My older brother. He’s been uber supportive throughout this entire process, and he was the first person I called after I got into UT and American.

Yes, it came out a month ago and people are beginning to find out slowly. My close friends have expressed their support which is really good.

Nope, nope. :D. But I’ll definitely miss my friends though. ■■■■■ for life.

@JoJo - I’m Assyrian, not Syrian haha. Assyrians are nearly extinct. In fact, I think there are only a few million of us left on earth. My parents emigrated from Iraq as Saddam began to seize power.

My mom!

None. If I don’t get into Vandy or NU, I’m staying at my current school. Therefore, I will not inform my friends at school until I’m definitively transferring.

Don’t have a girlfriend but I’ve built some very intimate friendly relationships. I honestly don’t know how I would tell them I’m transferring; I know several of them would be heart-broken. However, I applied to Vandy and NU because I felt they were better fits for me and I hope I’ll be at one of them come fall 2011.

@chicago,

Assyrian?! That’s so cool.

I’m 100% east asian, so that will actually help for once! Especially because I wouldn’t count towards international.

My parents

I told my friends a while ago. They don’t want me to leave, but they see how miserable I am here. I’ve transferred before, so the whole process is kind of familiar.

No gf, so it’s all good.

Definitely my supportive parents

I’ve told a few friends here…aren’t too crazy bout it given UT and VU are rivals haha

And my gf actually plays soccer for vandy now

I hope today is the day!!!

Chicagobears, I’m assyrian too. Never thought I’d meet another one here of all places lol

My girlfriend then my parents.

I haven’t told anyone really, because I’m not sure if I will transfer. I applied out to have some options, but honestly I really like my school.

I have a girlfriend, but we already don’t go to the same school. If I went to Vandy, we would be farther apart though.

I hope at least some of us hear today!

@qwerty -That’s awesome! Are you from Chicago?

No I live in Los Angeles

My parents and my boyfriend, and my close friends from high school will be the first people I tell (whether its good or bad news)

Some of my friends at my current school are aware that I’m applying to transfer. And basically all of my close friends from high school know. Although my roommate doesn’t know. It’ll be so hard to tell her because we’ve became pretty close this year and ill feel terrible leaving her.

My boyfriend and I are already very far apart, he goes to Rice in Houston and I go to school on Long Island, so he’s very supportive of me transferring to a better school.

1.) I’ll tell my gf right as I get in because she actually goes to Vanderbilt currently. So, not only will I be going to a better school, but I’ll be going to collge with my gf, which I’m very excited about. Because of this too I’ve been to Vanderbilt quite a lot and think it’s a great school for me academically and socially.
2.) I’ve told most people that I’m trying to transfer.
3.) see number 1

@ jhlee417

did you say that you also go to UTK?

Yeah, I do. I’m walking to the hill as I type this on my phone actually

Anyone got a decision letter yet?
