If admitted students deposited to another school by May 1, and just ignored their Vanderbilt offer of admissions, do the AO just assume they’re not attending? I ask because around 7 people from my school got in & none are going. They all just forgot to respond to the offer. I’m hoping this does not hurt my chances.
@lizardthicket112 Not submitting a deposit by May 1st means the student will officially not be attending that school (they can’t just decide to attend Vandy after May 1st), so by ignoring it they took themselves out of the mix.
I think (based on a previous post) that there were some admits from the transfer student waitlist. I also saw a thread on Reddit regarding the law school waitlist that I think some folks misread as undergraduate (me being one of them initially).
@lizardthicket112 - yes, I do believe if someone didn’t deposit by May 1, then it is assumed that they will not be attending. I suspect that many students just forget to actually decline their offers because their focus is on the school they will be attending. Some schools will make exceptions to the May 1 deadline but I think it’s less likely the more elite the school is. I made my DS decline his admission offers to the schools he will not be attending at the same time he accepted his current choice. That was hard for all of us because it made it final.
@LvMyKids2 When we called, they said they expected around 7% of the class to be comprised of the waitlist this year, so movement seems likely!
@mll2323 & @Choski94 Thank you for clarifying!! That makes me feel better
Does anyone know an estimated release time?
@lizardthicket112 that is great news for all on the WL. As I have mentioned before, in my child’s freshman class I noticed many in the dorms were from the WL…I like how Vandy uses the WL
how many of y’all here applied to the school of engineering?
I did, though I’m kinda regretting it now :-SS
I’m feeling today is the day because everyone who wanted to stay on the waitlist said so by May 2nd at 11:59PM, so they had yesterday to decide. Cornell and Middlebury also sent their first wave yesterday so I’m expecting something from noon till the end if the day. What do you guys think?
agree. i really hope it would be today so that i will stop checking my email
Same^^ even though I know the odds are slim, I can’t stop checking my email…once they send the first wave I’ll be able to rest easy
Still nothing? Wow
So if we are admitted with the first wave we will receive an email?
I’m not really sure how it works. Anyone?
My counselor said this " We WILL use it, starting soon, but it can go on for months."
@elephantskater did you mean your regional counselor?
yup
it’s out, my friend got in!!
Still nothing?
Daughter just received acceptance off the waitlist. Has until tomorrow midnight to accept offer, and then 72 hours to officially claim the spot. Good luck to everyone.
