VERY IMPORTANT ACT question!!!!

i need anybody's advice on this one...since the deadline for signing up for the june act is today, i need this advice pretty fast.

do you guys think i should take the june act and just study the two weeks i have after school ends (i also have two sat subject tests the week before) or do you think i should take it next year as a senior?

i already took the one in april and got a 29 (i was a bit sick that day and only got six hours of sleep), and i took the Illinois testing one (which counts as an ACT, i think). so, i would only have one more chance to take it (for a total of 3 ACT scores).

what do you guys think?? and think fast! thanks

Edit: i should also add that I plan on taking the SAT I early next year as a senior.

come on people...the deadline is today and i don't feel like paying late fees!!!

I think you should take it. Schools like Harvard and Stanford says they take your highest score, so at least its a good practice. You get a 2nd shot at it senior year if u dont do well... some publics like UMich average your scores, but those schools don't require super impossible scores to get in.

take it. you will already be in a test-taking mindset anyways. plus you'll always have next year to improve

I know that several colleges my daughter and I have been looking at take the highest scores on the individual items and then recalculate a composite score. Also - the ACT is an achievement test and you are more likely to remember some of this stuff right now than after a summer of downtime... I don't think that the ACT covers much of the senior year courses - unless you are taking some courses such as pre-cal in your senior year....

Definitely take it. If you need to retake in the fall, no harm done. My recommendation is NOT to put down any schools to have your score automatically sent to until you've seen your ACT scores. You can always pay a few buck to send the scores later.

yeah... that's right... i remember now, the ACT is not cumulative like the SAT. u only send which test score u want, it costs 8 bucks / school, but the SAT everything is printed on one sheet each time u send it, so if u took it 5X, all 5 scores will be sent

Hm, if you take the writing and do poorly--do you have to submit your writing and only your composite: or is it everything? Do you have to answer all of those inventory questions to register for the ACT? Where do you exactly press to give the people the money?

How are the SAT essays vs. the ACT essays?

"Where do you exactly press to give the people the money?" what do u mean????

i didnt have to take the new ones, but i took SAT II W, and i thought the essay was SOOOOOO easy. i got a 12

Hm, when you submit your SAT score--can you just submit the essay. I want to take the ACT--I mean, I did fine on the SAT, but I just want to see how I do, without having to do the ACT essay.

take in in june... the act doesn't like to publicize the fact that the scores are based on the scores of the people that take the test, but it is, and a lot less people take it in june (and a lot of those are not-so-smart football players trying to meet the scholarship deadline or somethin.. my teacher explained it to me). i think you'll have more luck in june.

Have people generally scored well on the ACT essay?

when do u see ur act essay grade from april on the internet for free? do they send u a score report by mail?

Has anyone noticed that ACT keep's pushing back the deadline for the test? You now have until May 10, 2005, for the early registration. Is there a dearth of test-takers?

Can choose to not show your essay if you did amazingly on the composite, and poorly on the essay; or could you choose not to take the essay the day of the test after signing up for it?

i got exactly the same score on the SAT and ACT essay- 10. i don't remember what either topic was. i did better on the ACT overall (33) than i did on the SAT (2100), but i think i'm taking the ACT again anyway. my GC wants me to because the first time i took it i didn't study or anything, so maybe i can raise it a little. grr, i'm so sick of these tests! at least i'm done with APs now.

I'm about the same as emily0687, 10 on both essays, 33 ACT, and 2130 SAT. However, the essay topic was waaay easier on the ACT, something like "In your opinion, should schools start later?" I believe I wrote that exact essay for 6th grade English, LOL
