How common is it for straight A (or A-) students in AP/honors classes to play videogames? I mean, not competitively or a lot, but like on the weekends. Since I was at the nintendo world store and wanted to buy a DS lite, but my parents wouldn't let me (I get all As and A-s).

The valedictorian at my school got a perfect score on the SAT in one sitting, and he plays video games constantly. He also hangs out and stuff on the weekends with his friends.

my friend-#2

I can't see how a nintendo ds can distract you so much that your grades lower.

xbox live ftw i play all the time but im not straight as i got a few bs one time omg cry me a river but it was in calc and spanish and they suck.

same situation as buttery

I get B+/A- mostly and I play video games on weekends maybe for 1 hour usually but 3 at most. I would play a lot more but I have no time from all the studying, homework, work, projects, etc.

On another note, my friend, who was valedictorian last year, smoked weed and drank hardcore every weekend.

epsilon, your sentence was so hard to read.

I'm a straight A student and do indulge myself with some CS and GB on the weekends -- or any other game I can tryout.

GB..Gunbound?

Gameboy :D

Gaming doesnt really conflict with school. I am taking 5 AP classes and I usually have a lot of free time on weekends to do whatever I want.

I have almost all AP classes (4.6 GPA), swim over 20 hours per week, am in charge of multiple clubs, hang out with friends, and I still play video games all the time. My favorites are Call of Duty 3, Burnout Revenge, and all those games you can download on the Wii's download service such as Zelda: LttP and Super Mario World. Oh, and I like playing this free online MMO puzzle game...Puzzle Pirates. Corny sounding I know, but extremely addictive.

I have become an even bigger gamer then I was before once I entered high school. I take all honors courses, and am able to maintain my striaght-A's. My big game is World of Warcraft (don't be a hater), but I normally play a lot on the weekends only. Though today was a different story..... :)

I do have a DS though, and they're nice for car trips and things like that. I also suggest Final Fantasy III to anyone who has one, but then again, I love FF games, so I'm kind of biased. ;)... Zelda games are also good.

The #1 girl in my grade plays FFR alot, if that counts. :D She's also addicted to myspace....

Although gaming is big for all kinds of people at my school, the top 3 or 4 guys never play anything. The girls at the top, I'm not sure since I have no clue if there are any girls in our top 10.

calc games? :]

besides that i have a modded xbox

so its not really true that all the valedictorians and top 10% of class never play video games and just do hw all day?

Hoping that was sarcasm.

^Well, if they have 5 APs and get all A's, I'm sure all their time is spent on hw

Nope. I've always been ranked 1-3, and I procrastinate... a LOT. (which is obvious... because I'm on this site right now instead of writing my science fair paper).
