He should hear by mid-March. You’re right, not nearly soon enough. :)

I tried again today using the link that someone posted but we still have no luck getting into VIP - it says that it can’t verify her identity. Oh well, I guess we wait. USC is my daughter’s first choice and she (and I) are getting very nervous waiting. She was not accepted in December and she submitted a package of additional information. We visited this school last April and she loved everything about it. She is planning to cheer in college and thinks that their team is perfect for her (NCA and all girl). Keeping my fingers crossed here in NJ!!!

Karen - Hmmm…try this… https://vip.sc.edu/pinreset.html. The last five digits would be the last five digits of her social security number.

Let me know if this helps!

Nope - it says it can’t verify her identity. :(

Karen

Had she applied Early Decision?

She applied in October and heard from them in December that she was being rolled into Regular Decision.

My son’s link to the “Freshman Enrollment Deposit…” still says the same thing - STUDENT HAS INELIGIBLE ADMISSIONS STATUS:" but I called admissions last week to ask if it meant anything. I was transferred to someone who deals with the VIP portal and she told me that is just means that a decision hasn’t been made. I told her I was concerned it meant he was rejected but she again said it meant that a decision hadn’t been made yet - keeping my fingers crossed in NJ also…

Found out a good reason why my daughter can’t get into VIP!!! A small envelope came in the mail yesterday and I almost cried - small envelopes are not good news! But . . . it was from the financial aid department saying that her social did not match up to any of the schools records. So we checked on her FAFSA form - it was right, we called the Financial Aid department - it was right. So they tranferred us over to admissions and . . . my daughter had made a mistake on her application. Whew . . . Faxed over her social security card and maybe once they get that fixed she will be able to get on VIP. The woman in admissions did tell me though that we shouldn’t be able to get on until/if she is admitted. I didn’t even bother to say anything because I know that isn’t the case for some. LOL! So still waiting in NJ!!

Karen

YIKES - that is unnerving! Hoping for the best for you and everyone waiting to hear!

Karen - That’s good news! So that solves the question of why she can’t get onto VIP. Keep us posted on whether or not she can access VIP in the next day or so. I’m sure glad that little envelope wasn’t big dreaded news!!! :)

Success!!! We can finally get into her VIP account! Doesn’t show her as accepted yet though so we still sit here with fingers crossed!

Karen

YAY! What does it say when you click on the “Freshman Enrollment Deposit Payment” tab on VIP under the Financial tab?

It says Inelligible Student Status - that is normal though until they make a decision right?

Karen

Hi KarGaro-

My son’s VIP says the same thing when I click on it. I called admissions about 2 weeks ago and asked them if it meant anything and I was transferred to some who deals with VIP - she told me that it meant that a decision had not been made. I was worried it meant he was rejected hopefully we will both hear some good news in a week or 2 :)

Error:
Msg26: Student has ineligible admissions status

So on VIP, I selected Housing, did all that, got to the page that says “Fall 2012-Spring 2013 New Freshmen Housing Application.” It explains all the fees and everything, and at the bottom, there are 2 options, “I agree” and “I do not agree.” I have not yet committed to USC and do not plan to do so anytime soon. I merely wish to see how the housing application page looks.

So my question is, will clicking “I agree” somehow commit me to USC and charge my account $200 for the enrollment deposit, or will there still be time to do that later, so I can just check out the housing page?

Thanks.

Congrats enlight! I’m sorry I can’t answer your questions but I am confident someone will be able to shed some light! ;)

So, do tell…did you apply early or regular decision? WHen were you notified? WHen could you access VIP information?

Thanks for anything you are comfotable sharing with us!

So happy for you…

No, it won’t charge you the enrollment deposit! It WILL allow you to put in your housing application, and at the end of that, you do have to pay $150 - $100 of which is refundable if you choose not to go to USC and notify them by the time they designate on their site.

There are two payments to hold your place in the freshman class, but you do NOT fully commit until May 1. The $200 enrollment deposit is step 1 and is fully refundable if you let them know you’re not attending prior to May 1. CFitzRN is correct as well - the housing deposit of $150 is step 2 and allows you to hold your freshman housing, again $100 of the $150 is returned to you if you tell them you aren’t going prior to May 1. So overall, you deposit $350 of which $300 is fully refunded if you tell them you decided to go elsewhere prior to May 1. I would recommend you go ahead and make the payments to hold both, and then you still have time to decide.

This is exactly what we did, even though DD hasn’t made up her mind yet. Seemed like since you can get all but $50 back it just made sense to go ahead and secure the spot.
